Can you use your enviroment to your advantage e.g: hide in bushes?

Title says it all, so lets say I'm sniping an outpost, would it be less likely for them to see me if I'm hiding in a bush?

Bushes will conceal you, but only the thicker ones that fully hide you. Also, when using a sniper rifle, even if suppressed, you have to be careful how you do it. Even with silencers you have to keep a fairly good distance with the more powerful ones, and of course it's important to also be careful where enemies are when you drop them, so others won't see it. Same goes for shooting alarm boxes.

If you want to snipe effectively, get the Z93 right away and put a silencer and long range scope on it.

Truth be told, it's often easier to go in close using takedowns, throwing knives, bow, and headshots with a silenced single shot pistol, as long as you're careful to keep yourself and victims out of sight.

Is there any proof to show they conceal you like statistics or is it just a basic?, and about the sniper rifle thingy - I was just giving an example; I'm more of a person who uses the bow and in some cases the shredder..

Just keep an eye on the white detection indicators. After a short while you'll get to know what a bush that fully conceals you looks like. If you practice throwing rocks near you to lure enemies while hiding in them, you'll also get to know at how close a range they stop concealing you. What I like to do for bush takedowns is slowly move behind vs in the bush as the guard approaches, then do the takedown just as they get near the bush. This is best done with the Drag Takedown so you can drag them into the bush to hide them.

The Shredder is very good. Quite accurate and quick at taking out enemies or predators. Keep in mind though that automatic weapons, even if suppressed, make much more noise at close range to others than takedowns, knives, bow, and silenced single shot pistols.

As usual, Frag_Maniac gives good advice, but I'd like to add one caveat:

The "Hunters" (specialized fighters that can summon and command animals to attack) can see you through cover, and while I haven't seen it in print, my assumption is they can see you as if they had "tagged" you. I base this on getting arrowed by them regularly, boulders, buildings, don't seem to hide you from them, all it takes is a step out in the open and you are zapped when Hunters are in the area. They are also quite adept at shooting accurately while on the move, so you might want to practice in that regard as well.

My experience of Hunters is quite different , possibly because I play on Normal settings but I find that most of the time its sufficient to hide in a bush and they often come quite close without seeing me. Also I can distinguish their whistle from normal birdsong.
For Stealth my favourite weapon is the Auto Cross - I use the Recurve Bow till I get it but I use the Z93 a lot less.

The reference was most likely to be understood as once you've been spotted by a Hunter. I play on Hard, and the priority is always to take them down as early as practical. What I have observed on Hard and when the detection meter feature is on, is that if you are spotted you may not get the flashing indicator nor a shout, as from the other NPCs.

Ah yes the mighty hunters. You have to leave at least something for suspense, but I guess that ship has sailed now.
