Will I have to re-download updates?

I'm about to format my computer. Is there a place the updates are installed so I can copy them or will I have to download them again? This applies to battlefield 4 multiplayer too, I don't want to re-download all those updates.

You can backup you game files , with steam you have option to do that ,with Uplay just recently added option to install backup games , you will be asked where is you game located.

I could be wrong but I don't believe the OP was asking to back up the savedgames but the updates. In my personal opinion, you would be wise to save the downloaded updates and I do believe that installing a new game will make you install the new patches/updates as well.

At least you can start your game where you left off if you save a copy of the 2 saved games .

Since ubi no longer has a location for the separate updates, one can assume when you re-install you're going to get a massive d/l of DLC material (even if not purchased) and patch 1.9 - warts and all (meaning, it should include the previous patches). The only way to tell is if Uplay does only one d/l, then gives you control to start the game, or after a d/l, it starts another, followed by another, etc.
