Stop releasing DLCs and fix the damned game.

Hello all. I haven't posted on a forum in years, but this game prompted an exception.

It has been four months since this game was released, and I have not been able to play it. I've never played a Far Cry game before, and all of the features of this one looked promising. There is no way in hell this game was tested before it was released. The well-known stuttering issue makes this game unplayable for me. I've done all the "workarounds" and "fixes" and not a single one of them makes me able to play this game. I switched between a GTX 780 and a R9 290X and the performance is identical. The developers have kept their mouths shut for far too long about the technical issues.

And to top it all off? DLC is constantly getting released. Ubisoft, so many people have not been able to play the game they spent too much money on, and the problems have been well-known for months, and yet you try to sell us even more parts of it that we won't be able to play. Instead of properly optimizing the game, you're regularly spitting in our faces. Your work efforts have been diverted from fixing your game to making more money off of it. Do you think we haven't noticed?

I am seriously upset that I bought this game because it looked amazing, instead of looking into it first like I do with everything else. Every time I load Uplay to find a new patch, my hopes are dashed as soon as I load the game because EVEN THE INTRO SCREENS STUTTER. I'm just....baffled. Absolutely baffled. Never again will I purchase anything from this terrible company with confused ethics. I'm sorry to all for the rant, but this is absolutely unbelievable on all counts. Don't worry, I won't hold my breath for you to fix it; I think we all gave up hope a long time ago.

Yes because historically, all UBI games have been fully finished and not a single bug, glitch or issues

You think that UBISCAM will stop making millions just because their initial game was not finished, contains bugs and glitches even now after 9 patches? They count on honest people to buy their DLC because they have studied that you people love to spend money on DLC regardless.

In the old west, UBI's bosses would be either hang or shot... or both!

I agree with the OP. I have zero interest in paying more money for a broken game.

I've seen stuttering too but fixed it by going back to the 14.7 driver - the last smoothly working driver for my card!

So far I've finished the FC4 campaign and dint see a single problem.

Couldn't agree more with the OP, even tweeted as much to Ubi, and of course they didn't reply.

At the moment the game crashes within about 20 mins of loading it up, stuttering is always there, FOV bug, SLI ghosting, it's broken and practically unplayable. I have the season pass for this damn game, yet I'm playing it with Uplay in offline mode so that I'm not afflicted even further by 1.9. So after the money I've spent on this game I'm barely even able to play it, yet Ubisoft don't seem to give a crap about that, they'd rather just pump out DLC and other badly made games to keep raking in the profit.

I just don't get how smaller developers are able to make games that run and play extremely well, yet a company with many more resources can't even make a game that works.

    As for fixing my machine...

Thanks for the support, guys. I know that this problem has been stated repeatedly, but I wanted to put my thoughts to it. I've spent a small amount of time with this game, which made the technical problems all the more painful because it's actually really fun. I'm really anticipating some news on this subject so that the people who enjoy playing this can actually do so.

To the tool who blamed my computer: This is the only game that doesn't run flawlessly on either of my machines. Just because you don't have performance issues with the game doesn't mean they don't exist.

    Captain:

Hard to take you guys seriously. First, there are the whiners that insist since they are having problems, we are all having problems, but, presumably, I'm too stupid to realize I've got problems too.

Then there are the type that assue since their rig can play all other games smoothly, that somehow means it MUST play FC4 smoothly. Depending how long you've been PC gaming, you either know this is never the case (one rig plays all current releases flawlessly and if not, it's the game's fault), or you accept that there needs to be a very determined effort to find out why YOUR machine is unable to play the game.

Then there are the type that virtually r a pe the developers with their scathing screeds, never once realizing this forum is for peer to peer, not as a substitute for contacting tech support.

Notice something about most of the people complaining seem to have the highest spec'ed rigs? People still don't get the fact that SSDs are not ready for prime time. A little over a year ago I made a bet with a buddy that if we replaced his stupid SSD (that allows fast boot time, wow!) with a Western Digital Raptor, that I would pay for the drive if it didn't smooth out his FC3 experience. Well, he went from a steaming pile of c r ap playability-wise, to as smooth and fluid as you could possibly want.

Another thing to keep track of is pixel count. Even "informed" players seem to forget the huge difference between 2560x1080 and 1980x1080. Even more fun are the guys expecting it to play well at 4HD, or 120/240Hz.

And since I'm a "tool", it looks like you need to fix not one, but two machines.

Well then, it is good to know that technology has gone backwards instead of forward and that now you must master a PC before you can play a game, if you don't then you are the idiot... life is grand!

Gone are the days where you would insert a game disc on your CD Rom, install it and go play. Now, you must tweak here, tweak there, edit this and that xml file and play with either 1 hand behind your back, both or at least a broken finger. Enduring a broken game is the name of the new technology now.

I have owned multiple computers since the early 80's, all of them mediocre, never top of the line stuff and not until this new so call Next Gen Games is when I have had to do all of this tweaking to make a game playable and sometimes even barely. Why do I have to wait 2 or 3 months for patches to come along to be able to play the game the way it was meant to? No wonder nobody finishes anything now a days, they take your money first and then, perhaps then, they will put some effort into making the game playable.

Why is it legal to do that? because they paid some other greedy bastard to pass a law that says so? But you want us to believe this is normal? Perhaps you people are the ones with more money than brains... have you though of that?

If I go buy a car, and the car is blowing fumes inside the cockpit and the next brands do not, is it still up to me to fix the fumes or can I call it a manufacturer defect?

Invalid comparison. PCs are different, not only because of processor/memory/video, but BIOS, low level system drivers, as well as drivers for hardware like soundcards, and all manner of other things. Add to that users using snake oil like "registry cleaners" (which might just clean something needed!), and you have a mix of stuff that frankly is amazing it works as well as it does.

Back in the FC2 days, my machine then would lock up very infrequently, like once every 20 hours of gameplay, or less. It seemed to be tied to surprize firefights with enemies in close proximity.

You know what I traced it down to? A bad motherboard sound driver. Once I upgraded the driver, it NEVER locked up again. So tell me, who's fault is that? Ubi and FC2, or me and my bad driver? Obviously it would be best if it never locked up, but the stupid driver just got overwhelmed and locked up the system.

Now here's where the real PC gamer comes to understand: Sometimes, your machine can't play the latest game without changes. You can wait for a patch (not a good idea), or you can accept the fact that you might have to tune and tweak. If you are incapable of tuning and tweaking, this is the number one indication that you should be gaming on a console. If you can tune and tweak and still can't get it to work, this is when you contact support (not whine in the peer to peer forums) and explain what you have done to try and correct the situation.

Sorry, all PCs are not the same, all games from the same vendor do not present the same level of denand on a system. If this is news to you or sounds like too much trouble, a console might be your best bet. And if you are a highly qualified PC tuner and are wondering why you can't run a modern game at 4x the pixel count and double the refresh rate of your last frame of reference game, well, I submit you need to get a clue.
