Yesterday played Far Cry 4, no problems. Today when I try to run it Uplay thinks the game isn't installed. It is installed, I can see it's installed. In fact I now have to switch off my modem to force Uplay into offline mode then I can play the game. So that proves it is installed and works fine but Uplay has gone f*cking nuts.
Oh and all my settings have reset.
Today is a big day - they released a new DLC (7.3 GB) and a 1.9.0. patch (1.1 GB). So the servers can act a little crazy.
I suggest not to do anything drastic, just leave it connected and wait until all patches are downloaded and installed...
Meanwhile you can backup your saves, just in case (some patches messed some people's saves before):

Nope. I'll just turn off my wifi when I run the game.Originally Posted by akunamatataa Go to original post
Uplay is trying to install an update for Far Cry 4.
However, Uplay need administrative rights to perform the update. If you try to run it from a regular user account, it will successfully download the update but will fail to install it. Any attempts to install it will fail with a message telling you that it "cannot start the download". The installer is lying: the download is already successful and complete.
In order to work around this issue you need to log out of your user account, give it administrative rights and log in again. Run the updater. Then revert your account back to normal user rights.
I hear the update has broken the game for some players, possibly an SLI issue. Plus the mod I'm using will require some re-work so I'll pass on that update and stay offline.Originally Posted by andreyt0404 Go to original post
