That last update messed with the editor.
That last Far Cry 4 Update appears to have messed with the editor.
Now whenever I select an item I have previously placed in a map the item pops out of place - this is extremely annoying.
So if I want to clone an item (as an example to extend a wall by joining up the pieces) this now pops the piece I am wanting to clone away from it's original place.
It does not happen with every item but happens a lot.
Previously before the last update I could select or highlight and select a piece, then clone it and everything stayed in the same place.
I even tried using Camera Lock (you will notice in the video above the item box turns red when highlighted, I then lock the camera and on selecting the item it pops out of place)
Also when looking at Animals and Allies (A.I.) on viewing the Allies you can see that some just have white boxes now, they can still be selected and they do still work but the actual item viewing window shows as white.
I am on PS4 - Not sur if this is happening on other consoles or even on PC ?
Hey Sabotur.Originally Posted by Sabotur Go to original post
In order to try and help out further, please can you provide the following information;
What actions are you doing when this happens?.
Is it only when you're editing a specific map or multiple maps?
Is it after a long period of editing?
Additionally, any further details you can provide on this matter would be really helpful.
As for the problem that was originally reported by FALLEN CHAMP, we're aware of the issue and are currently looking into it.
For the time being, please try the following work around which should alleviate the issue for you.
This problem will occur if you select an object that is partly or completely under the ground. As such, please try the following;
Work around:
1. Select any object that is not under the ground.
2. Raise the object up
3. After that, objects shouldn't pop-out any more
We understand that this will be frustrating for you and really appreciate your patience and understanding whilst we investigate this matter. We hope that the work around above helps, however please ensure to keep us updated with any further information or if the problem persists after you've applied the work around.
Thanks a lot.

How this happens on console is basically we press the button on the controller that selects the item (X on PS3 / PS4) - now when you do this it should simply give you control of that item selected and the item should stay in the exact same location it was in when selected.
From there we can move the item or clone it, but now what is hapening with some items is on selection they are moving from the position they are supposed to be in - The video I posted might be confusing, what I was doing was selecting the item which moves then I was going back so the item goes back to the position it was previously in.
The second video at 3-8 seconds shows what I used as fencing rails in a horizontal position, none of this is below the terrain (but the other fence rails whch I used as upright posts, they had areas under the terrain) I just wanted to point out that they are wrong in saying that this happens with pieces that are partly or completely under the ground.
They are correct in what they say - raise the object up and it won't happen with that object any more but this is the actual issue, by selecting the object it moves out of place then we have to raise it up and re-position it, this causes a lot of un-nescessary work, If the item had stayed in position then the map building process would not be as long with re-aligning items.
Still thanks for mentioning the issue - I guess things like this are a lot of hassle with fault fining and take up resources that might not usually be available after a game has been out a few months, With the destructible doors still not fixed I am not hopeful that we will get a happy ending to this new problem but kudos for pointing it out to them.
You should only need to do this work around once per map and it should resolve the issue for the rest of your map. So for example, using the raise function once should mean that the pop-out issue shouldn't happen to any other items on your map.Originally Posted by FALLEN CHAMP Go to original post
Additionally, the problem that you originally mentioned will occur if items are inside one another (not just below ground).Originally Posted by FALLEN CHAMP Go to original post
Our devs are able to replicate the issue you're mentioning and are working on it, but the work around mentioned should fix it for the time being.
Please can you report back once you've tried the work around once and continued to work on your map some more. If the issue persists, please let us know.
Thanks.
Maybe I am doing something wrong but this Work Around does not seem to be eliminating the problem for me
From the video above.
Ok after selecting Floor Concrete Tile 500x500 item from Building Blocks (13 seconds)
On 14 seconds I place it on the ground then select the item again and raise it (17-25 seconds)
On 26 seconds I switch to Edit By Coordinates which is something I use all the time in the FC4 editor to allign items because trying to do it neatly with the analogue stick.
At 43 seconds the piece is lined up as I want it to be.
After that I select different pieces to see if any pop out of position (so far everything is working - good)
59 Seconds to 1min 12 Seconds I go into Explore and test the ramp (just playing around stupidly in the editor as I do a lot)
1min 14 seconds back into the editor.
Clicking on the other items to see if any pop out of place and they are good until (Oh God) 1min 18 seconds - The last item added which had been raised and had gone through the work around instructions - This is now popping out of place when selected.
This was my first play around after coming off 2 nightshifts so I will mess about some more with different maps as well as maybe start something new to test how things behave.
The Camera Auto Scroll OFF issue I can live with because the Camera Lock Work Around (although not perfect - it did help a lot) but these items popping out of place could make it very difficult for me to build the types of map I usually make (indoor and underground sections with lots of flat walls)
Ubi Jax I think they were almost correct in what they said before with that Workaround.
1. Select any object that is not under the ground.
2. Raise the object up
3. (Now click until the object is back in it's original place) After that, objects shouldn't pop-out any more
That seems to work for me so far from the vid above - After the item popped I raised it then clicked back a couple of times so it went to it's original place - I selected the object again and it stayed where it was.
Tested by going into Explore & Back to Edit and everything was fine, saved and re-booted the map and it worked.
So maybe we will have to do this a lot of times on a lot of pieces but so long as it works by raising then clicking back to place the item where it was that is not so bad - My fear was that I would have to manually move the item which takes time.
So yes the workaround is good, it just needed adding that we can go back without having to allign the item manually (or so it works for me so far - Next I need to check that this works for items under the ground also as I see no reason why it won't work)
