i want to assign flap control to the "rudder rocker" on the bottom of the throttle. is that possible? i tried assigning it in the hotas control but when i went to fly-- nothing--and my flaps just jammed, no message or anything to show their status. Help would be appreciated.

btw i have my prop pitch on a slider now and it is awesome.

Hey GK. You could use the rocker switch as flap control, but to the best of my memory, you'd have to use it in banded mode. For example, flaps up on one side of the rocker switch, and flaps down on the other side of the rocker switch. Essentially, you'd have to assign key presses to each band.

Since the rocker switch recenters itself, you may not be able to use it as a slider for flaps.

I've assigned one of the rotaries as prop. pitch, the other rotary as trim and the hat switch under the index finger on the throttle as flap and auto./manual prop. pitch control.

PS: you sound alot like the old friend, "goodkn1ght".

I tried this a long time ago... what happens is that because the rocker has a centering spring, it keeps the flaps at @ 50%, so they jam when your speed goes to high. Full rocker deflection one way is full flaps, full rocker deflection the other way is no flaps, rocker centered is half flaps. And when you assign flaps to an axis, you lose the status message. You sort of have to just know about how much flaps you have applied.

I assigned my flaps to one of the three axis on my rudder pedals. This works very well for me, I can just squeeze in a little flaps in battle here and there without going for any buttons. If you don't have CH pedals, I HIGHLY recommend them. Start saving!

You will need the latest drivers for the x45 if you want "banded" rocker control...

I used it for zooming (FOV) - it does work.

You cant just use it as a "slider" for flaps - you'll end up holding it down one way or the other if you do

I found it useless for rudder control - got me a saitek cyborg evo for that

You might also try using the 4-way mouse control on the throttle for flaps. It is very convenient for incrementally cycling between the various flap settings; it's also intuitive: button up - flaps up. button down-flaps down. The hat button on my throttle (under the index finger) controls mixture (up & dn) and supercharger settings (fwd & back). BTW, the rocker operates the rudder fine for me with no special programming required. Forward and back on the 4-way mouse controls prop pitch.

That may fool some, but not all.

As someone already mentioned, if you use the rocker assigned as an axis, flaps will be at %50 unlesss you're applying input to the rocker.

I had flaps on one of the pedals on my race wheel set for a while, that worked well .
Due to issues with another sim (EAW) I no longer leave more than one controller plugged in at a time.

Are you using the Saitek software? if you are then go to the rudder rocker setup. You will see a little arrow on the upper right side...sort of like a drop down menu arrow. Click it. Select bands. When you open it opens up you will have your rudder divided into 2 sections each at 50%. There will be a red line dividing the two. Mouse over to the line and move it up and down...see the % values change? As yo do that you will open up the third band. Once you get them pretty even like say 40% on top 40% on the bottom with 20% in the middle lock it in. Assign the bottom half to flaps up (F) and the upper half to flaps down (V) or however you want to set it up. Then center band should have a grey circle with a line through it and is a neutral point. Everytime you hit your rocker one way it will be like pressing the F key..the other eway will be like pressing the V key. To completely lower your flapds you will have to hit the rocker 3 times... or vice versa to raise. If you have your hudlog turned off you will have to keep track of how many times you hit it because it wont show but it will effect your planres performance. I use my rudder rocker for flaps and I have no issues whatsoever. It is kind of tricky getting the bands right... spend a few moments playing with it and the light bulb will go on when you get it. On my setup if I hit the flaps on my left they lower and on my right they raise... since the central position is a neutral band it lets the other positions function as a toggle button. You cannot use a slider for flaps. Flaps have to be assigned to a toggle type key or button. I too use prop pitch on a slider and it works great. My elevator trim and aileron trim are on the two knobs on the X45 throttle... rudder trim is the twist handle of my FFB stick.
