This game ran great for me prior to the last patch, and now is completely useless. The frame rate frequently drops to below 40-50 fps and never stays smooth. I don't have this issue with any other games aside from this one. This is on an i7 4820k @4.4, 32 gb 2133mhz ram, sli 780ti's and Acer 1080p 144hz G-Sync monitor. How you broke this game with a patch is completely unbelievable and unacceptable. People pay good money for this and get **** on by the devs. You obviously don't give a **** about the people who pay for your games. Fix it or lose customers, you stupid *****s.
Thanks, but I think there's no need to disable/lower anything in the game now. I believe I fixed it by simply disabling EIST and C1E in bios. Was reading somewhere that oc's over 4.0 ghz can be hindered by EIST and C1E so I disabled them, but it used to run great even with them on @ 4.4 ghz. Not sure why it ran fine with those features enabled before the patch and new NVidia drivers, but disabling those power saving features seems to have made it much smoother now. It just raised my CPU temp a little, the cores are always on full speed, and it never lowers the voltage when idle. I guess I'll just have to live with a slightly warmer running CPU, for now anyway.Originally Posted by akunamatataa Go to original post
Frankly, I don't know why you haven't disabled EIST and C1E in the first place - they greatly reduce stability in general in any OCed system.
I also saw that tip from some moderator to disable C1-state to reduce stuttering.
Try to disable Soft shadows anyway - they have 30-40% performance hit after 1.8.0. Again, you will hardly notice ANY visual difference with Ultra shadows.
Yeah, every forum on OC'ing has ppl debating whether to leave EIST and C1E on or turn them off, lol. I had it on because a knowledgeable person with almost the same setup as mine said he ran with them on and had no issues, and I didn't either until the latest patch and nvidia drivers. It just depends on the individual system. I just now re-enabled EIST but left C1E off and it still runs great now with no stutters (100-144 fps and I didn't need to turn down any settings in the game), and so does every other game I play. EIST with C1E enabled just allows the cores to stay a bit cooler (4-8 degrees C cooler, in my case) and use a bit less electricity when the system is idle, so it's a good thing to use if you can use it and still keep the system stable because it is supposed to save the CPU from wear and tear, which allows the CPU to have a longer life. My system was stable when running prime95 and IBT with both EIST and C1E on, but it must have had an effect on games after the recent updates to the game and drivers. I had honestly never noticed any issues in any games before those recent updates. C1E seems to be the main problem with oc's over 4.0, but it did run Far Cry 4 perfectly before the last patch even with C1E enabled. At least it's running perfectly again and I can at least still use EIST so the CPU can stay a little bit cooler at idle (3-4 degrees C), though not as much cooler as with C1E enabled also. I plan to leave C1E off from now on though because EIST alone seems to be good enough anyway. Thanks for the input though. I may still try your suggestion and see if I notice any difference.Originally Posted by akunamatataa Go to original post
