Nice tip and useful for others who didn't know about this. I implemented this a while ago in a WIP after hearing 2nd hand from kid m p c, but found in some situations it still didn't prevent the light from switching too early.
I really wish there was an option for lights to never turn off (just like in Evo). I much prefer to manage when lights turn on/off myself than have to implement hacks to get them to do what I want. MY preference only![]()
D2Dahaka, can you tell me exactly what you did or show a screenshot? I am interested in figuring it out what caused it to switch off too early.
From my experience i noticed that if you only use glue tool like pArA8D shows in video it doesn't work properly. Have to use a dummy object and glue that to point light and then set both dummy and pivot point at the right spot (some testing to find it).
As i have no info to go on i have no idea yet what might be causing it not to work properly for you though.
Hi mate, i should have read your post properly. I was doing it the other way, which explains the lack of reliability. My apologies and thanks for this useful tipOriginally Posted by xntr1cs Go to original post![]()
Was just curious and thought since video did not show it exactly how i explained it in OP that it probably was because you had no dummy object.
Stil can not figure it out why that dummy object is neccesary but i think it makes the Range of the light bigger. As if the tool card card gets stretcht out or something like that, lol.
Anyway glad if you got the problem fixed, that is all that matters.
Ok, I actually applied your method to the problem scenario I had with the other method and it still has the same issues unfortunately. To Show you the scenario will be a bit difficult via screen shot so i'll make a video at some point.Originally Posted by xntr1cs Go to original post
I only mentioned it because i had a problem on my last track when i only used glue tool (was being lazy) and to test it i kept point lights in same position and added the dummy as i would normally do and moved both dummy aswell as pivot to same place as i had the pivot before and that fixed it in that perticular case.
But there are probably several variables which makes it very hard to pin-point what is causing it not to work.
