I logged in today to a rather unpleasant surprise: I had received a forum infraction for inappropriate language. Now, I would usually let this slide, but the circumstances leave me with a very bitter taste in my mouth. This was the post that garnered the infraction:
First off, it is hardly unreasonable to include strong phrasing when a message is obviously so emotionally charged. Secondly, expletives are a very common medium to convey this. Third, the word in question was caught by the filter, no attempt was made to circumvent it, resulting in the negative connotation of the word being lost, but not necessarily the intent and emotion.Originally Posted by Ch4er0n Go to original post
I'm utterly flabbergasted that a community manager decided this was so inappropriate, and I am truly dumbfounded that there was no consideration made for context. It was my first record for crying out loud! Apparently infractions are doled out easier than congratulations.
Ridiculous
Edited to save poster from a second infraction for the same thing.
YES. Im the one who gets to say Congrats>inb4infract. While we're on topic, allow me to be the first and the only one again to congrats you on your newly acquired infraction. Dwell on it for as long as you can!Originally Posted by Ch4er0n Go to original post
OT- I can see why ElcoloLoco got infracted, but Ch4er0n didn't really deserve it imo. I know rules are rules, but are there really no emotions/lack of subjective behind these moderating?
Wait, infractions are worth points? Can we get an infraction point leaderboard?Originally Posted by ElColoLoco Go to original post
A couple of points to consider.
1. Posting the exact same messages that caught the first infraction can cause more infractions, please don't do that.
2. If a mod or admin notices an post that doesn't follow the rules for whatever reason, then they should take action. Regardless of the context.
3. Strong language, even when emotionally charged, is still subject to the forum rules.
4. Expletives have no place on the forums as per the forum rules.
5. Don't use profanity, even if it gets "caught" by the filters, you can get an infraction. Best bet is to just not use it.
It sucks to catch an infraction. It's like hanging out with your friends and some jerk coming in and slapping your hand. It's annoying. I completely understand. But they still need to be enforced in accordance with Ubisoft's forum rules. Most infractions roll off, if you've caught a single one, I wouldn't worry about it too much. But please, don't repost the things that were flagged in the first place.
thanks ret <3 its my first infractionOriginally Posted by Retribution Go to original post

If every police officer followed the 'ubisoft' rules' as much as the moderators do in this forum then the world would be a slave camp, I think those police officers need to realise that they themselves are citizens. But eh old news, these joke of a staff have been giving warnings/banning people just because they're bored.
