I received FC4 discs last thursday and had to install twice before game seemingly loaded completely. I then went through most of the frustration I've been reading about since. The only thingunique to my situation was that I tried loading to one of win7's portly partitions (Drive G) because my C drive had only 19gb remaining.
After countless restarts, I finally got to where I could select difficulty, settings, and on or offline play. As soon as I chose offline the game crashed to desktop. That's as far as I've gotten.
Okay, so now I've read suggestions and watched videos till my head's about to explode. Read about the evils of logitech mice. Read about rar files and magical crack files. Some "fixes" border on exotic, some just seem tedious.
I'm gearing up to try this again this weekend. My new crutial 256gb ssd should arrive by then. That said, here are a few questions:
Does this game require both steam AND uplay? I just wanna play offline on my own.
When I install neww ssd, I'm going to reload win7 along with latest gtx580 drivers and video drivers. What other settings should I adjust?
I have a logitech USB mouse. Should I replace this? If so...what should I get?
I thought my rig was fairly stout, but perhaps not "beefy" enough to play this game. You tell me...
Core i7 3820
Asus X79 Sabertooth - with more available tweeks than I even understand!
16gb Corsair ram
GTX 580 Classified gpu
Onboard Realtek audio
And the new 256 SSD
FWIW-I played FC1 & 2 with a pair of GTX8800 with no problems. Been playing FC3 on current rig with ZERO problems.
At the risk of sounding naive, I'm really baffled that Ubisoft hasn't patched this game to a point of "user friendiness." But what baffles me more is the number of folks that have been able to play it with relative success. What's the difference?
Anyway, maybe by this weekend they will have released the ultimate catch-all patch! If not, I hope you folks can provide some straight-forward guidance to get this "$50 Mystery" fired up! Thanks in advance!
If you bought it from Steam, you need Steam & UPlay.Originally Posted by getuhgrip1 Go to original post
If you bought it from UPlay, you need UPlay.
If you bought a retail copy, you need UPlay.
Motherboard related drivers (chipset, soundcard, network etc.) and every update Windows Update offers you. Do not adjust anything you are not sure about. I believe your problems are caused by excessive "tweaking" in the first place. When I install neww ssd, I'm going to reload win7 along with latest gtx580 drivers and video drivers. Kind of a bold and unsubstantiated statement, but whatever. The fact is, I've not done any tweaking beyond normal parameters with regard to clock-setting, memory, and boot sequence. The only programs loaded from MB disc were the usual: USB, SATA, Intel Chipset drivers, and LAN driver.Originally Posted by Patu Go to original post
In any case, I have just installed the Crutial MX100 (256gb) drive, and re-installed Win7. Updated Nvidia driver and Realtek driver.
Now loading Far Cry....we'll see.![]()
Ok, I might have misunderstood your line "with more available tweeks than I even understand!". Sorry about that.Originally Posted by getuhgrip1 Go to original post
Did it work after the reinstall?
