Dumptruck laptop was DOA... and is back...

Looks like Dumptrucks laptop got hacked..... (guess somebody got tired of making "inaccuracies" on the leaderboards and moved on to other things).

Lets show some support for the poor guy, and if anyone should have some good advice in how to avoid/prevent such things from occurring (or have personal experiences to relate) please post....

Just a heads up, my computers were hacked through my home network and everything is on hold. Live Streams, Forum work, (Barely got on, but my connection is ****).

Ending up getting completely locked out of my new windows 8 laptop (had to do a factory reset, lost everything on it)

And this laptop has another user on it, who I can't seem to get rid of. The person hacked in using my Xbox live attached email which was also the one used on the new laptop.

So I'm dead in the water til I can get this fixed. Hopefully I can get back up and running by Monday. But if people are asking, this is why I haven't been on today or probably for the weekend or til I get this fixed.

I use a password on my home lap top. Just to stay on the safe side.

The password won't protect you. The world of security is much more complicated.
E.g. this: Ubisoft UPlay has serious security vulnerability

God... people have nothing better to do these days... Hang in there man.

What router (look into router logs too), firewall rulles, antivirus and antimallware protection is there on the machine? Client programs etc? Don't reply, it's just few things to think about. Any client program is vulnerable, let alone how Windows per se is full of holes.

If you got backdoored and rootkited (in the end), then zeroing everything and starting fresh should work out on the local machine (PC, laptop, w/e it is), but the issue is with your accounts. If they got your credentials, then all of them has to be reset serverside (mails, live etc). I hope all was 2 step verification passworded with control codes back and forth straight to your phone and not into your mail inboxes... I would still reset all my mails, accounts etc.

Start working from the base (maybe with Hirens if you have PC machines infected), don't go into windows at all. Fetch a hard copy of the OS installation so to reinstall it, don't just reset as the sh1t could be right there all the same. If not, get the new HDD or borrow it so to fresh install the OS, secure the machine and eventually clean or zero the infected drive. Hijackthis and Combofix maybe at one stage or another?

At the same time or before that, make sure your accounts are still yours and safe.

Hope you get out of this asap.

I'm really sorry to hear this DT, I hope everything works out for the better, and soon. It really makes me upset too. As a lifelong gamer, I think I hate hackers more than anything. I mean, murderers and rapists aside of course, I don't mean to compare everything, but it's just the worst feeling ever to get hacked or to experience some form of identity theft, etc. I know from experience.

    Keep your head up dude!

Always turn on 2-Step Verification whenever available. It is available for google and microsoft accounts. This makes logging in from an unverified device impossible, even if someone gains access to your password.

It is easy to become lax about security and start using the same password for everything, etc. I think we are all guilty of making mistakes. I often wonder just how many systems are actually compromised by hackers who are proficient enough to be accessing our systems without us ever even knowing.

    Thanks for the well wishes.

Doing this from my phone, but I expect I should have at least one laptop up and running by Wednesday's stream, but not having easy access to the forums is killing me. I'm hanging in there though. This kinda thing is just super frustrating and time consuming. But I have a guy that will be looking at my old computer to see if it's salvageable.

Hopefully I won't be stranded like this for too much longer.
