    LOL

I'm sure few people will care, but I just wanted to post this for the heck of it.

On a whim, I decided to *completely* max out my graphics settings (as in Very High/Ultra High, Trilinear, max AA/AF, 1024*768*32--I can't do 1200*1600, gfx card doesn't support)and boot up FC, just to see how it would look. My specs will be at the end, just so you can get an idea of how pointless this "experiment" was. Once the game loaded, I started a LAN MP game, on the "Dam" level. Once it *finally* loaded, I was able to run around and do things, however, it was increadibly laggy and jumpy. After about 5 minutes, I began to get artifacts, most likely from GPU overheating. This prevented me from checking out a SP level, but I plan to do it sometime in the future.

For the few minutes I played, the game looked AMAZING, but my fps was around 3-5, so it was obviouslt pretty useless...but I had a good time. I got a screenshot, but I have no way to host it, so if anyone really cares, let me know where to upload and I'll post it (and any I get from SP) when I get a chance.

Thanks for reading about my pointless project!!!

    specs:
    Gigabyte GA-8S661FXM
    P4 2.4 Northwood 533FSB
480MB PC2700 DDR (should be 512, but my system steals 32 from me)
PNY GeForce FX 5200 PCI w/ 128MB RAM
    SB AUdigy 2 NX
    WinXP Pro

I'm hosting screens from spike's little "test".
Note that I have reduced the filesize a little bit from the original.

    SweSent:

lol I appreciate your doing this...I managed to get 3 screenies from SP, from Pier, Training, and Catacomb levels. The files are a little too large for me to send, except individually, so if there's one you think might be better, or if you could give some tips on reducing the filesize a tad? Let me know!

I can imagine!!! Tonight really got me itching to upgrade...I'm hoping to get another gig of RAM and, if I can earn enough money this summer, buy an X800XT before I go back to school. I'll be so happy when I can actually play the game with these settings (or something close to!).

    Here's to wishful thinking!

    You're d*mn right, here's to wishful thinking !

    FYI:
With the onset of such eye candy as Far Cry, Doom 3 and HL2 I figured it was about time to build a new rig. So I did:
    AMD 64 FX53
    Sapphire X800 Pro
    1gb Corsair XMS
    2x74gb WD Raptor 10k HD's in Raid0

Let me tell you... full settings, everything maxed out... FLUID!!! I'm having no problems running this game the way it was meant to be run using the new rig. WOW!!

well, I took former customer's advice and register (for free!) on photobucket, so here are my shots from SP:

This one's from the "Pier" level, right after you grab the Hang Glider at the start:

Next is from "Training." Note the artifacts on the right-hand side of the shot--black lines down the edges of the paths. These appeared after spawning, walking up the hill, and turning around...all of 1 minute at the most--that's how overtaxed my system was from doing this!

Finally, an indoor shot, from "Catacombs."

As you can see, the details looks great...but unfortunately, I could not play at all because of system stress. I was lucky if I could move more than a few feet at a time without hiccuping or getting severe artifacts. But it was definitely worth it to get a look at the visuals this game promises!!
