Dear Ubisoft and Far Cry Community,
First of all I am no stranger to the Far Cry franchise, I am a series veteran and played all titles starting from Far Cry Predator. After completing Far Cry 4 I decided to take a look at the wishes people have for the next installment in the Far Cry franchise and make a wish list out of it. This thread serves for the sole purpose of conveying the wishes from the Far Cry community to the developers. I also ask for help from the community managers.
One of the strongest criticisms Far Cry 4 took was being a re-skin or Far Cry 3.5. I strongly agree with that point of view, the game did not really feel new and the whole recycling all assets from FC3 made it worse. What gamers expected from Far Cry 4 was the next level in the series, but ultimately it stayed the same. I am in no way implying that the formula is bad or that you should fix something that isn’t broken. However, you should expand on the formula and innovate in order to avoid the copy paste feeling. I do expect some radical changes in the next iteration.
Location
Lets Kick things off with the location for FC5 or other titles in the future. In the last Longinus quest he explains to Ajay that he will probably go next to South America or Cuba but he has not decided yet. Nice Easter egg from the developers. I think South America or Cuba would be amazing since there are many new fresh possibilities with such a setting.
However these locations were also widely discussed in the forums and could happen in a future themed Far Cry:
• Alaska or Antarctica
• Arabia
• Australia
• South America; Peru, Colombia
• 1960s Vietnam War
• Russia (placed in Siberia)
The main series should have a realistic/plausible setting simply because that is what people like about the franchise. The whole Sci-Fi, vampire, dinosaur themed Far Cry settings should be kept as a DLC or a new IP.
Weapons
I think a complete new arsenal for FC5 is a MUST, since FC4 recycled every millimeter from FC3, which by the way was a huge disappointment. Please Ubisoft do not recycle any weapons from FC3/FC4 into FC5 again. Make the next title feel fresh and play around with the weaponry. What I mean is you could offer weapons from different eras and not just stick to modern day weaponry. Such as; more WW2, Vietnam War (early M16s), Cold war weapons.

Requests/Ideas for FC5
• No more recycled assets from FC3/FC4 in the next game (animations, weapons etc.). We don’t want another Far Cry 3.5 please respect that.
• Realistic/proper weather system (rain, fog, mud etc.)
• No Last Gen support (next/current gen only)
• New enemy AI, FC4 AI was very poor in terms of organization and they would just storm at you.
• New NPC classes; for example spec ops soldier (thank you KrAzY1337 for the idea)
• Dunia 3 engine (last gen held back the potential for FC4)
• Different map structure; instead of one big map or two big islands how about an archipelago with one section being an entire fully fledged urban city.
• Pilotable Planes, but not just one type of plane. We want a variety.
• More types of Helicopters (not just the buzzer we want something like the AH-6 little bird).
• Urban cities, as in actual big concrete cities and not just tiny villages like Banapur etc.
• Outposts should get the next level of evolution. You get easily bored after taking over 4 outposts. There should be more types of outposts. New outposts could be for example military bases (armored vehicles, helicopters, huge area), Spec ops/secret bases (organized spec ops soldiers with the best gear and flash bang grenades), weapons stash depots (a new way to unlock weapons).
• Portable Mortars (like in FC2)
• More into depth weapons customization.
• New set of weapons.
• Weapons degradation (I know some people won't support this, but why not make it optional?)
• Fewer animal attacks e.g. eagle attacks.
• Ability to leave markers on the map.
• Map editor for multiplayer (volumes to tell on that topic here)
• Less drugged or Shangri La missions.

In the main game everything should be fresh and new. It would however be cool if they released map editor DLC packs that included everything (vistas, ambient lighting, enemy and friendly ai skins, map editor items, etc.) from the previous games.Originally Posted by Argonaut_Knight Go to original post

Given the weapons list is somewhat connected to reality, I think it would be a huge mistake to replace weapons just because "they've been used before".
I especially do not want laser weapons, "pulse cannons" or any sci-fy crap. If they were to replace the current lineup, then we'd be talking about the 1903 bolt action from FC2 as one of the top tier weapons.
If you are bored with the series, take a break, or, select a lesser capability weapon and play the whole game with that.
I think you misunderstood the message. My point is the developers should make a fresh list that obviously sticks to reality. As you correctly said, it should be kept in reality and I was not referring to sci-fi nor laser weapons. However, they could add WW2 and Vietnam war era weapons to give some variety. NUMBER ONE IRRITANT IN FC4 : Trying to search a body on the fly. I look at the corpse, hit the use key, and my weapon promptly swaps because search/swap weapons are the same. That's bad , but worse is when the weapon I dropped just disappears (falls thru the map or something), which has happened to me several times. And of course I seem to lose the ammo that was in the weapon, again not bad if it's one mag, but 200 rounds in a belt fed is a big loss. I think a separate function key for swap weaps would be great. Or have it set so that the FIRST choice is to search a body, since that's what most players do 99% of the time.
2. fewer animal attacks. I get so tired of stopping in to reload then before I'm a klick away, my armor is gone and I've had to heal due to animal attacks.
on the same topic, we need a freaking weapon for under water. Why cant I melee a fish before it attacks? It's really irritating to be swimming and get attacked 3 or 4 times without being able to do anything but bleed.
3. No more shangri la or drugged out missions. Those were the least enjoyable part of the game.
4. If one key has multiple functions, LIST THEM ALL IN THE KEY MAP PAGE so we can see what will change (i.e climb/fire, descend/zoom, etc)
5. One really great option would be to have the ability to leave markers on the map.
6, If I*'m going to pay $90 for a game, I want to play it more than once. If i have to sit through 5 minutes of commercials every time I start the game, then I have a 20 minute inro, which I've already seen the first time, then 5 minute cut scenes when I interact with various characters, it makes me less likely to want to replay, which means I'm less likely to spend $90 on the collector's edition.
7. Last issue. Actually having to hold in a key to perform the function (like heal or search). That extra second might not seem significant, but after 6 hours of play, my 'hold" finger is pretty sore from searching/using, And of course a one second delay is long enough to die, when factoring that healing takes and additional 2 seconds or so, that's 3 seconds of being out of commission. If I want to search or heal, I REALLY DO WANT to search or heal. So let me just hit the key and get the result.
FC4 was a good game, but it could have been great. i swapped weapons so many times by accident, and several times I lost my suppressed weapon in the middle of a stealth mission. The animal attacks were way overdone. And why can't I use the melee key to melee, why do I have to wait while I'm being chewed on for a "Mash this button" message at a random spot on the screen? Seriousl, it's so frustrating to be on foot, 10 minutes away from an outpost, then get killed in a random attack.
EDIT: Additional MAJOR complaint. I and many other players on this and the steam forum, have commented on how as soon as we put our eye to a scope, or try to scout locations, animals spawn and attack us. I was on my 2nd playthrough, with a personal goal of liberating every outpost without triggering an alert. I had just started scouting my 4th or 5th outpost when a bengal tiger attacked me. I heard the growl, and dropped the camera, but I was already being chewed on. I had no choice but to use an unsuppressed weapon, which alerted the camp.
I remember on the first playthrough how irritated I was that almost every time I was using a camera or scope an animal would spawn, even if I was on a terrace that had only one avenue of approach and I had already cleared it. I think I'm done with FC4 for now. SERIOUSLY. If Im on a ledge where there's no cover, and a 75' cliff behind me, there's no way an animal can sneak up on me from behind. It just literally spawns.
And on the spawning topic. While doing the smuggler missions, I know that after I kill the smuggler and open the safe, I'm going to be attacked. On the most recent one, I plaiced mines on the single avenue of approach. I was watching the internal map and when I opened the safe, the RA spawned inside the perimeter I had just cleared. Very irritating.
