What happened to the music loops in sound sources?
Am I remembering wrong? Didn't there used to be a whole bunch of music loops in the looping sound source properties? They were recycled from trials evo.
Wanted to use different songs at different moments in a game I'm making. Dynamic music events can work, but I want more freedom in this case.

I think they only added those song sound loops so the Easer Egg community could manually dissect the songs, as each song had a Morse Code inside them. They weren't actually meant to be used in tracks, and they were only for the DLC of Evo. I remember a dev commenting on how annoying it was for people to turn the song on and not allow riders to be able to turn them off (like dynamic music can be), and he added they weren't really mean to be there
I personally miss them too though
Hopefully we get some short music loops in Fusion too. Those drum loops aren't the best haha

I agree that the current music tools aren't that flexible and if it was still possible, we would give more options for the track creators. At this point of production however, I doubt the music tools will change.
The music is only usable from the music playlist to have consistency between user created tracks. If music was available as sound sources, people could boost the volume very high "because it sounds cool" and it would ruin the whole track sonically. Some are already doing this with sound effects: if you follow the live streams, you'll sometimes hear Shogun and Badger comment on how loud a rain effect or a planet explosion effect was and how it annoyed them. There's also the issue related to the core gameplay code: when you restart at a check point, all looping sound sources are reset. If the source was music, it would restart every time you fault.
If we had started the development of Fusion today, we would create tools that allow a lot of freedom, but also prevent all the worst case scenarios. The editor in its current state does a bit of both.
