What happens when you change timezones?

I've been in London for a week and have been afraid to open my iOS game because of all the random penalties I get. I played my android version while I was here since the new update came out but now I'm heading home and wondering if I will get dinged again.

I just hope the game can "understand" the time zone changes... got me curious all the same too. If my phone is set to automatically adjust time, the game shoudl be able to "see" that, no?

Still, a DEV should re on this IMO.

If your clock changed during your trip, then it is very likely that you will have a 24 hour fuel penalty. Sucks for those of you that travel, but it stops huge numbers of people from abusing the system. When I've changed the clock on my phone I've received the penalty when I've reverted to my original time.

There is no real need for the devs to address this. What do you expect them to do? Create a function that tracks the geographical location of your phone to make sure you've actually been traveling? All so you don't suffer a minor 24 hour fuel penalty? You could just play showdowns for 24 hours.

@Timohthey: Yes, actually. The phones have location tracking, so they could make it recognize when people are actually traveling. Nobody should be penalized for their laziness.

That's just sad. If I ever find myself in a foreign country, or continent, the last thing I'd be thinking is 'Where has my fuel in TF gone!? What the hell is this!?'. I'd be out enjoying myself, exploring wherever I was. I think the fuel penalty is a great idea, if only to get you lazy people put of the hotel/place you are staying to see where you are. Plus, it only lasts 24 hours! 24 hours!!! There are bigger and better things in life than Trials Frontier...

But hey, if you want to travel to a foreign country to play Trials Frontier then that's your choice and I guess being penalised for 24 hours would hamper your experience to some degree.

I think you're wrong, but don't take this personally, I'm just spinning out from your post.

As xzampleex said, YES. I do expect them to OBEY my time zone and location, seen they HAVE permission to geolock and time my phone.... no? WTF? If I have to accept all those permissions to install the game so they should INDEED have to respect, or have already implemented, hooks and scripts so these "permissions" are indeed useful, also, for the user.

    Point!

ps: try disabling your geolock. services and see how the game refuses to run... Should work the other way around too - if I go fly to another timezone, geolock changed, and phone reports that - the game should simply follow. Otherwise - pull off geolock and other permissions requirement.

pps: I travel at least 10 times per year cause of my job. Lucky me, I don't have (any spare) time to game when I'm on a work trip...

No, it's not wrong. It's up to that person to do with their free time what they choose, and you are wrong to criticize somebody for doing so differently than you do.

It's not a great idea. It's only there to prey on peoples' addictive behavior. The game is actually designed to keep you coming back constantly throughout the day to get slot rewards/tickets/fuel.

You people? The reason I don't ping-pong is because I work and I go out. But, again: People can spend their free time any way they choose to.

The penalty world reoccur when you came back home, btw. They can have fuel on a universal clock, like the bunker, but instead they choose this penalty system.

All that was my opinion. I never said it was wrong, or that you absolutely shouldn't do it, I just disagreed with the idea and I couldn't see why you would want to do that when abroad. I don't know where you got that I said that it was wrong from, I never used that word, I simply said that I didn't agree with it, that I would do something different and I couldn't see why others wouldn't want to do something different too. There is a difference. If you'd read the post properly you'd see that I'd said if that's what you want to do then I could see how the penalty would be a problem. I respect the other points in your post, but don't tell me my opinion is wrong.

If i get penalized by the "fuel police" when I didnt do anything wrong, I will always be pissed. Its a bug and they need to fix it. When they first added the "feature" they said it was smart enough to detect adjustments due to travel, but since it has penalized people for no reason at all..... I have my doubts.

Hope you had fun in london! I had a great time there taking their subway system for sightseeing! And my daughter is a Harry Potter fanatic too, and she gave me all kinds of places she wanted me to take a picture of, like Platform 9 3/4, and harrys house on privet lane (had to take a train for that one). Great fun (but i was there long enough i did want to play games too)

I think RL backed themselves into a corner with fuel. When the game came out it was a feature of the game that it could be played without internet connection, and everything was doable that way. Little by little they have moved things under their server-clock like upgrades and slots to minimize exploitation, and they could because those were minor points of gameplay; they could still say its playable without internet. If fuel got moved over the game really would only be playable with internet, and that may be considered false advertisement. So they added thier silly fuel policy....
