Today, I tied with someone in a Showdown track, and the game considered the track as not being taken. So I took over the track, and when I came back to the Showdown screen, it still showed that it was not taken. Anyone else ever had this issue?

Yes, there are two opinions on that:
1. once you "tie" the track, it's gone, you can't get it back ever in the current showdown
2. you need to set better time on it to "untie" it
the reports don't seem to be consistent on the matter

Well, since the ghost of my opponent does not show up, I am not able to take the track back.. Option one it is, then.

I had this occur in season 1 and it was not possible to take the track back. Even if I beat the time it stayed tied. My only option was to win both of the remaining tracks (which I did). But I still missed out on additional chip accruals from that tied track

It happened to me and I won it back with a better time (last week after update). But I have heard of both things happening. Maybe its a roll of the dice. . . .
