New season has started, rules has changed slightly, so let's discuss how we want to do ping-pong in the new season
(Original thread).
1. Since coin bonus is attached to your medal on a track you cannot fill the pot if you do many fails on a track. However, instead we can try to earn Gold/Platinum medals to fill the pot and leave enough time gap for opponent to do better result, i.e:
- Track X Platinum time is 20 seconds
- Player 1 does 19.8 seconds
- Player 2 does 19.5 seconds
- Player 1 does 19.1 seconds
....
The problem is in referencing to track medal times and be very precise on the track.
2. Apparently, we can still earn chips by doing ping-pong the same way it was in the first season.
However, right now I'm competing against 'fangsilver' (I don't like pointing fingers at people, but this is a good example), and I wait some time for my opponent to earn chips, and after hour or two do less fails on the track to start earning my chips. The opponent immediately does less fails than me, thus not giving me any opportunity to earn any chip. This is no-no, please be respectful to your opponent and give time to earn chips.
Any other thoughts?
We should start from silver times and slowly work it out if possible, people having good communication can still make a 60k pot,but is it worth it after so much we got on 1st season? No,chips will be the main priority for this season and i expect head to head in last 2 hours of showdown,no one will be willing to give away wins mostly unless i guess one is on verge of becoming legend.
As I get closer to the last track, and the more burnt-out I am, the less an intense ping-pong appeals to me.I try to keep them more casual these days.....not going for any records..
Today crispben and I are doing one of our pongs (3rd or 4th for us at least)... and for the second time now we have agreed to only use a max of 2 tickets each on each track (total of 6) once we begin competing (ie the last hour or so). I believe he said its something he and bunnyhop had started doing? I do like it for the fact that neither of us is going to go crazy with the golden tickets at the end... lets me use them on other people. It adds a nice element of chance to it because overall, I am really a person who NEEDS many tries to get a track done well most of the time.
Heh, I'm glad you liked it, apart from saving you golden tickets it also creates a space for additional tactics - who goes first? which tracks to run? should you do 2 runs on each track or do 3 runs on 2 tracks and concentrate on them to secure?Originally Posted by xitooner Go to original postI wish crispben and myself could continue that showdown streak, i think he's leading 2:1 so far

Season 2: no opponent of mine accepted to pong... skilled ones did in first 15 minutes, but then it was over... wth... ok, I'm level 12 atm, but we can still pong and then you beat me up, but no... others don't see it that way. No blame, no hard feelings at all, just wish people can see both parties can benefit in the end - even one of us is going to loose.
If I hit the legends in this season I'll surely simply continue offering pong to ALL, like I always do. No pot for me (it does mean nothing now with low amount it gets), grinding fuel gifts for 1k each time I get a gift is sufficient for me.
I do not understand how some people do ping-pong. I just overtook all tracks to gain chips, and players like "Loko." and "TheeElf" took them back immediately. I overtook them again, because it's my turn to earn chips, and they took them back again. I let them earn chips by waiting (usually an hour or two), but they don't. Can somebody explain such behavior?
I had this problem last season all the time. If they did it, I would just crush them and move on. If not, everything was gravy and both players usually ended up with about 900 chips or so. People are just greedy or they don't understand how simple things work. This season, when matched with a legend before making it, I would want them to take them back right away so they could have as many chips as possible in return for the win.Originally Posted by stampede-8 Go to original post
I will add that it may have to do with the fact that some people have a very small window of time to pull out their phone at work and take tracks back, so maybe just bad luck on the timing. This can only be the case in some instances though, some people are just plain dbags.
i hate this too. one time i was playing someone and i started using golden tickets to try and get the other player to realize it was my turn to hold the tracks. the other player just kept using them too! finally i got mad enough to just take the tracks right to zero and win.
i think when this happens the other person really doesnt get ping ponging. in season 1 it was more understandable because the other person could have just thought the goal was to boost the pot without thinking about chips but now boosting the pot is pointless.
I thought about the same, maybe they want to even the chip count, but I carried a lot from previous lost showdown. In the second case they guy had about 800 chips and I had 200, so no reasonable explanation.. Maybe just because I win every showdown with that guy.
Anyway, I'm done with ping-ponging, I don't have time to do that![]()
