Update Showdown match making. | Forums

First season we had A TON of complaints that playing people 5 ranks ahead was unfair. Now people are complaining that the only showdowns are against people within 2 ranks. There were definitely more people frustrated the first season. It might suck, but I think this way is the better of the two.

Some kind of combination would be nicer though. Clearly neither matching method works well enough.

Gotta agree; 2 ranks may not be perfect but its going to be a much better matchup than 5 ranks was. Hopefully its waiting a decent amount of time looking within 2 ranks, but then slowly expand to more ranks until it gets a match. In season one the dev said it did that. Its not sounding like the expansion part is there anymore?

Overall though, none of these match-making things are going to work well if your personal rank gets higher than 90% of the player base, or if there simply arent enough people playing. (wish there was a way to see how many people were active at different times of the day; I can make some good guesses but I would love to really know the peak/idle times of the day)

I don't know how the matchmaking works, but its definitely not +/-2 of your rank. Just started a new showdown and I (lvl8) am up aginst stampede-8 (lvl2). But it still takes hours to start a new match. I loled hard!

Maybe it takes first +-2 ranks, after 20min +-3 ranks, after 40min +-4ranks and so on...?

Yesterday when i started a match i was immidiately matched with GTdave, even though i was rank 7 and he was a legend

dont think so. Then there should be only about 5 active players. It can not be, that there is only one player available within 2 hours and this player is legend and plays against a level 7 player.I mean where are the level 1 to level 14 players. No matter which time it is, there should always be a better matchup than level 7 against gtdave! Matchmaking is worse than before!

Even if they would make it totally random, i would be fine. But it surely isn't random cause it takes forever until a showdown starts. In that case the matchmaking is just ********. And again devs dont tell anything about it. Really a joke...

I don't know, I waited all day yesterday, then started just 1 match this morning and it seems a bit better, we seem quite even. The seasons so short I don't want to wait but if it what I must do then so be it. I finally got around to buying the dlc for fusion this morning cause it was one sale for dirt cheap. At least that will keep my occupied for a few more days.

I'm matched with stampede-8 right now, I am 8 and he was 3 when it started. There was no wait time to find it either. I started 6 last night, the first one matched up very quickly with him. The rest took between 30 mins and 2 hours! I'm not really sure how the new system works, but I am sure I'm getting smoked by stampede-8!

just ping pong a bit for chips, take your loss and move on....

can't have it all guys....lol

Honestly I don't even entertain the ping pong anymore. Its not worth the low amount of coins.
