So I bought a copy of the game for my buddy so we could play co op and he wanted the game in the first place. During co op, I was explaining the weapons system and how you could loot a gun, bring it back to a safe house, and then add it to your arsenal. He got the bright idea for me to drop my guns as an experiment and add them to his arsenal... surprisingly, this actually worked. Even in his single player setting he now has all the guns in the game excluding the named versions. I can't help but wonder if this is a bug. Can anyone else confirm if this is actually a thing?
Second thing I noticed was after pulling this. I started a third play through for grins and giggles to see if I missed anything worth noting. This is when I came across something I had not previously noted at all. As a standard, once I get past the Hurk scene I start taking the bell towers so that I can have access to my MS16 for the nice mid range snipeing. As far as I've been able to distinguish between all playthroughs, all units initially posted at the belltowers are scripted and will be there 100% of the time. I've especially noticed this for the snipers thanks to the lazer sight on them. What I hadn't noticed was that the two most northern towers in the south spawn royal guard units and not royal army units. At this point, I think this is the earliest point in the game that you can get access to some of the later game weapons including the Z93. Can anyone confirm if they're also getting this? These have got to be bugs right? The wouldn't give access to the 50 cal in the very beginning of the game right?
Both things are very real and are well known tricks to get early access to weapons... They're not bugs, but a parts of the game design.
Getting a gun from a buddy is a kind of a cheating, but if you want to get a gun regular way, you can simply choose not to take it from a friend.
As for royal guards at the Northern tower - it's a little secret of the game, but it's logical - the tower is located at far North of the Southern Kyrat and placed on a high rock that can be considered a part of the Northern ridge, and to figure out the access to it is far trickier than any other tower in the South...
And you actually can get the same Z93 and P416 during one of the High Himalayas missions pretty early in the game if you choose to progress with a campaign first...
Pointless to you maybe, not so much to those whom realize there are players that are content to pace themselves unlocking by certain actions, and others whom like to be able to unlock them just by exploring or trading. For instance as mentioned the Z93 can be had very early if you know where to go.Originally Posted by Cortanis001 Go to original post
In this way the game offers both experiences. I see nothing pointless or unusual about it. It's an open world, play the way you want to game. There's a lot of people that don't even care to play coop, but those that do often are out to just have fun "tearing **** up", so it's not uncommon to allow such trading. Those that are looking for more challenge than fun tend to stick to solo play, but then some feel that kind of challenge IS the fun.
Anything a game allows is not considered cheating, esp considering we're not even talking mp here.
