whats your system config ?
CPU ? the game needs a quad core CPU
GPU ? the game needs a fully compliant DX 11 Video card
OS ? the game requires windows 7 SP1 or windows 8 /8.1 - 64 bit only
do you have any of the following software running ?
Riva Tuner
Msi Afterburner
EVGA Precision
????
have you verified your game files ?
see here on how to do so ---> http://forums.ubi.com/showthread.php...ake-it-sticky)
yep your Pentium D is the problem , it is not a quad core CPU and is below the minimum system requirements of the game ..thats the bad news
the good news is YES your motherboard supports quad core processors if this is the motherboard model you have .. asus made several versions of the p5 k check on the board itself for the exact model number in case my link below is the incorrect one
http://www.asus.com/Motherboards/P5KR/HelpDesk_CPU/
you can buy a quad core CPU and the game should function fine i use an Intel core 2 quad Q6600
but you may need to update the motherboards system bios .. if you do this do not use the windows based utility this can brick the motherboard .. use the Dos utility or if your asus motherboard supports it they have a utility that works right in your bios called ASUS EZ flash again depends on what model motherboard you have
i say this out of experience as i also have an asus motherboard a P5b model an using the windows based utility bricked my motherboard and i had to buy another motherboard the asus windows based utility does not function under a 64 bit windows version
using asus EZ flash i had no problem upgrading my bios after downloading and copying the updated bios to a usb thumb drive and flashing from there
again i cant say if you need to flash your bios of not as i do not know what version you currently have and you can refer to the asus link i provided as to which bios supports a core 2 quad your current bios may already support a core 2 quad refer to the asus support pages to verify before you buy a new CPU
next you would have to buy a core 2 quad and install it , these processors are still available and reasonably priced
tho if you want the 3 gig model its gonna be about $120 as they still command a decent price (the Q 9650) why the Q9550 priced at $75 is a good value (i plan on getting a Q9650 soon myself)
you can run Far Cry 4 with as i stated a core 2 quad model q6600 like i have ..and the game will work .. any core 2 quad is much faster then your present Pentium D and you will see a benefit in more applications and game by going to a quad core CPU
if you live in the USA you can find a quad core CPU here pretty cheap i use this vendor all the time as i do upgrades for people quite often and have used this site many times with no issue .
http://starmicroinc.net/-c-22_351_31.html
you will note that my core 2 quad q6600 is priced at only $40 i would suggest you buy the fastest one you can afford that is listed as stated buy your motherboard documentation .. again see the asus page i have provided and make sure that you have the right model Asus P5k board
i dont know if they ship overseas as i am in the USA you could call and ask them i suppose
but i do know they only accept orders ONLINE not over the phone
i only had one incident where they sent me a bad cpu about 7 years ago and they replaced it without incident so i can say they DO have wonderful customer support
and sell good stuff cheap... my system also has 8 gig of kingston DDR2 800 memory i got there for only $21 per 2 gig Dimm most other places either don't stock ddr2 or they want too much money for it
Hi, thanks for the quick response.
Trouble is I am in the UK.
I can build PCs but am not very up on the Tech stuff ie: flashing the bios, Good news is I know a man who can do it for me. You have really been very helpful to me over this and I thank you very much.
I thought I would never get to play this game.
Incidentally I am an old man (75) and my passion is gaming with games like FO3 and New Vegas etc. I like FPS mostly.
Once again thanks very much
well just be sure to remind who ever you take it to DO NOT USE THE WINDOWS BASED ASUS BIOS FLASH UTILITY IN WINDOWS
like i said i found out the hard way thats its broken under a 64 bit operating system and i trashed a brand new motherboard when the utility failed to flash my bios correctly
i also am a older gamer (51 ) been playing games on and building my own pc's since Duke Nukem 3d came out in 1996 previous to that i also have been building pc's since back in the 80's when i worked for commodore ..tho i was not really that much into gaming back then
wish ya luck and yea you should be able to find a Q6600 even in the UK pretty cheap these things are beasts ..mine has run every game i have thrown at it over the past 7 years
and stays really cool... not only that they are fairly easy to overclock especially on good ole Asus motherboards like my P5B and your P5 K
but if ya can find the Q9650 there i'd say go for it as future games may demand the higher clock speed those chips provide
and upgrading your CPU is far cheaper then buying / building a new system
just cuz something is old does not mean it Sucks ... you yourself included !
rock on man and i wish you luck !
Thanks again, finally got a response from the support after they said as they hadn't heard from me and were closing the case and I responded by basically telling them they were crap!! They said the same as you and also that my graphics drivers were too old but I just installed a new Card!Originally Posted by WID992007 Go to original post
