Hi all,
My first post on the Far Cry forum. It is just a general point of discussion.
I went around taking the Bell Towers in the South the right way; climbing, balancing and jumping. But, since reaching North Kyrat, I've found it's much easier to just get on a buzzer and fly to each one straight after the other. I took all of the towers in the North in about 30 minutes this way, which included killing the remaining troops after taking it.
I would simply fly up to the bell tower and land the buzzer on either the top floor where the signal box was or the level below, whichever was easier to land on, then take the tower and fly to the next one.
Anyone else found this way saves time?
By the third time around, I also no longer want to spend much time climbing towers. I can't seem to land the buzzer easily enough... [removed]Originally Posted by Tedward_25_ Go to original post
It is a well known and widely used way to do a tower fast. My first play through I did all but the last 3 normal and had a tower count no buzzsaw award glitch so after bumming about it and finishing the quest line towers and outposts etc I had to dump it with this stupid 1 save file to do another that I did most of the towers the fast way. It is fast but depending on your time and goals you do miss a nice part of the game by not approaching and climbing the towers.
Usually by the time you resort to such tactics, that's your brain telling you you're burning out on the game. Maybe playing something else in between sessions can alleviate that. It can also be caused by fixating too much on something you want to unlock, like the Buzzsaw.
Last time I liberated all the north towers I used a combination of flying to them and wingsuiting to them, but I always climb them. The wingsuiting from one to another is quite nice once you figure out what the highest point on the map is to get to, which I did via grapple climbing and mantling, then picking which order of towers to fly to.
That said, it is my hope that next Far Cry they'll add an ankle jet booster option to the wingsuit to allow 5 min sustained flight intervals, without having to pick extremely high launch points and lose lots of altitude.
I hated the towers in fc3. it seems like the ones in fc4 are a bit more forgiving but I really don't enjoy them at all.
There were a couple in fc3 that were real tricky.
If I wanted to play a platformer I would've bought a platformer.
Somebody has suggested before that instead of platformers that maybe the towers could be mini outposts. A few guards and a control room that you have to clear out and destroy instead of climbing and jumping about.
I once let a buzzer roll of a tower in the north which destroyed it so I had to resort to climbing the rest until I could find another buzzer.
Its easy to use the grenade launcher to remove any propaganda posters while you are buzzing about too.
And dont forget there's one tower in the north where backup comes in the form of a helicopter which can be a bit tricky if you're not ready for it.
May Pagan's light shine upon you all.
That's a nice idea indeed. Another suggestion was to retain the "fog of war" until you clear a specific o/p in the area/region/sector, and do away completely with the tower concept.Originally Posted by madasafox Go to original post
I don't think they should do away with the bell towers altogether as I think the combination of towers and outposts is a good distraction from the main storyline. I like the idea of changing the objective of the tower away from a climbing task into a mini outpost though. It's still a brilliant game though!
