Hello everyone
I had problems installing some of my games, well i had to re-install Windows 8.1 and i had to download all my games again, i downloaded 4 games with uPlay, 2 of them are new games (Trials Fusion and Valiant Hearts), those games are auto installables, they worked fine, no problems with them. The others 2 are "old" games, not auto installables (Trials Evolution: Gold Edition and Rayman Leyends) these games once download is finished it opens a manual installer, where you have to click "Next" a couple times, with these last games i had troubles during istallation, i received error messages about "files corrupted", i put repair several times and never worked, always the same message "files corrupted". Having to re-download again was a pain because my internet sucks.
Fortunaly, i found a solution, i went to uPlay > Options or preferences and unchecked "allow uPlay use a proxy connection" and then i adjusted the little bar "limit download speed", i did it match with my connection dowload speed "512 Kb/s" (yes my internet sucks) and WOW it worked, my games finally installed fine, looks like uPlay client is having troubles to download some games with diferent types of connections.
This issue is already solved, but i still wanted to post my experience in case someone is having the same problem, or maybe if it can be usefull to the developers team
Thanks, bye.
I am one of the many people also having this problem, with Rayman Legends in particular. Thanks for posting a possible solution, Edgar. I'm expecting that it won't work, and that you just got lucky when the download finally got to you intact, but I'll give it a shot and report back with the result!
Whether this work-around works or not, though, Ubisoft should really try and fix this issue. I try to keep myself from being influenced by the popular opinion that Uplay is a bad platform, but it's hard to disagree with that sentiment when I've downloaded this installer three times and it's wound up corrupted and useless every time. My internet's even slower than yours at 300 KB/s, so when a 4 GB download doesn't work, it's hard for me to just shrug that off without getting a little peeved.
Yeah, didn't work. Thanks anyway, Edgar. A Uplay update appeared halfway through the download; I didn't install it, since that definitely would've broken the download, but maybe even just the act of the client checking for updates was enough to break the game download. But I'm installing it now; maybe I'll get lucky and this patch will happen to address the very problem at hand. Hey, the release notes say that the download manager is one of the things that changed. Hope is kindled.
edit: The game downloaded and installed just fine after the Uplay update, with no need to change the proxy or bandwidth settings from their default states. Maybe I just got lucky this time, or maybe they've fixed this issue. Hopefully the latter!
