Here are a few hypotheses and tests that I wanted to share. Please feel free to verify / dispute or add some of your own:
Hypothesis: Rider heads (and any other aesthetic options) do not affect finish time calculations
Test: Complete the Cave with a 10/10/10/10 Bronco and holding nothing but the throttle while using various rider heads
Result: Every head I tried completed with a time of 11.597 which indicates that there is no difference between rider heads
Request: Anyone who has heads from special bundle offers, please see what your time is on the Cave with any of those heads (I do not have any of these, but they appear to be larger than the free ones).
Hypothesis: There is not a faster way to start a race than just holding down the throttle during the countdown
Test: Complete the Cave with a 10/10/10/10 Bronco using various timings and tapping strategies
Result: The best I could do while holding down the throttle at any time was 11.597. HOWEVER, by tapping the throttle during the countdown and just as "GO!" appeared, I was able to get 11.525. This indicates that you may be able to save about 0.07 seconds by tapping at the start rather than holding (though I was not able to consistently get this to be faster). It's also possible that this was actually slightly slower to start but that results in a faster time because of the level design, need to identify another level to test as well.
Request: Please try to replicate / improve upon this.
If you lean backwards when going off the start line you get slightly more acceleration. This is especially noticeable with speed bikes as you can hold the lean without flipping over backwards. As far as I'm aware this is the optimal way to start a race.
I had thought there might be a benifit to the squirrel head, but there isn't. By the way, I get 11.599 when I do The Cave, regardless of head. I'm on an iPhone 5s. What are you using?
I did The Cave with the Tango 5 times and got 11.987 each time. It's maxed out and I hold the throttle from before the countdown finishes until I'm across the finish line. That's quite a difference between our times. I'll do the Armadillo when I have more fuel, I'm not buying any to find out lol.
EDIT: Armadillo was 12.052 multiple times.
iPhone 5s, just tried it 5 times each with:
1. samsarian head, "hearts" paintjob
2. pumpkin head, luchador paintjob
11.599 every single time. (the reason i changed paintjobs is because i thought having hearts as an exhaust may have also altered the engine capabilities LOL)
however, I personally still believe the heads to make a difference. why? because it the test suggest here you are not leaning forward. everyone knows, the reason to lean forward at the finish line is because time is taken by the rider crossing the line, not the bike. hence leaning forward will make your head cross the line faster than if not leaning. so, I believe that bigger heads (pumpkin, soldier, squirrel) do make a difference in that case.
let me give you another example: fault village. at the very end, you ride up to a finish line. multiple times i've tried to not to ride up, but throw a rider to the finish line, while dropping the bike down below. well, it only ever worked (repeatedly) with the pumpkin head, never with a samsarian. and this move also helped to set solid times in the bunker which competitors were not able to beat, even though they were actually ahead of my with the bike. hope this makes sense
this is a very good thread, i like it![]()
Running a 10 second speed test with flips, etc doesn't seem scientific enough, IMO for the head test. Surely there is a better way? A level track ending where there are good ground markings where you can slowly approach the finish line while leaning forward, and see where your tire is at the moment you cross the line maybe? Or measure how much head has crossed.... Assuming all heads are the same size for detection purposes, I would assume the larger head would have to cross the finish farther before it finishes....
some people said that Cornelius Costume slows the run, so yesterday i compared Cornelius Costume and the default one with Bronco, both 11.599, nothing more
the cross platform difference is the problem now![]()
I always felt that winning or losing by 0.015 or 0.030 as an example is basically doing the same run except with a little bit more or little bit less luck.
I don't think this 0.002 difference is anything to go by, difference-wise
Cave Entrance @ armadillo 23.974 ios
Can you guys check android here?
It doesn't crashes at ios lolOriginally Posted by iviarkD Go to original post
[trollmode]it crashes cuz it goes faster at android[/trollmode]
But at least it proves that platforms are totally different. I try one more time and got 23.974 again while just pressing acceleration and nothing more
Yes, but when it's the same track — android fasterOriginally Posted by iviarkD Go to original post![]()
i guess i should probably test this stuff since im one of the few people to have pretty high accounts on both platforms
