If you have IL2: Forgotton Battles with the Aces Expansion, then you have Spits. There are no downloadable planes in IL2, although they do come within updates and patches from time to time. The reason for this is that it helps keep the quality high, and ensures a level, stable playing field everyone can enjoy, offline and on.

Edit: Btw, welcome to the best WWII combat flight sim/game around. Hope you enjoy it.

Is that right? I thought the patch was for AEP, rather than FB.

    Can anyone clear that up?

yes it is for AEP and not for FB
so you need AEP if you want to install the patch and fly those new spits

A slight clarification... the AEP is FB 2.0. They are NOT Two different sims. The AEP is a MUST if you want to take FB to the next level since you wont be able to apply any of the upcoming patches effectively with out it. BoE,CoE and Barbarossa are the add ons that are not requird but nice to have..particularly BoE. Again .. the AEP is just FBV 2.0. If you cant fly Spits then either The AEP didnt install correctly or you are just running FB. To get the Spit,P-38,Go229 and a few other planes you will have to get the AEP and upgrade to 2.0.

Actually, I've recently heard somewhere that there will be 5 (FIVE) versions of the MkIX Spitfire.
