farcry3 just seems like a better game to me. Farcry 4 feels soulless, as if you're just a hired gun/mercenary. At least in farcry 3 you were trying to rescue people who meant something to you and tackled some moral dilemmas as well as being a little bit racy and having MUCH better music. Make dem burn and the farcry 3 opening titles are still epic listening material.
Farcry 3 Pro's
Music was much better
Plot was better
Map was better imo
Bit risque/racy
Farcry 4 Pro's
Riding elephants FTW
Himaleyas !
Fortresses
I disagree. Bombay Royale is freaking awesome!Originally Posted by simonmcnair Go to original post

Wow. I don't think I could disagree more. Whilst I like Bollywood style music and I have to admit it is very tarrantino which is a good thing it does nothing for me. The whole Jamaican Drug line with the bass line make dem burn is just delightful.Originally Posted by akunamatataa Go to original post
Don't get me wrong I like the music, just not in a game. Admittedly I don't think I've done Bombay Royale yet but if it can top burning weed with a flame thrower with a massive Jamaican bass line then I'm sold.
You've done the first soundtrack (You Me Bullets Love) at the beginning of the game when you fled De Pleur's palace in a car spreeing around with scorpion.
But when you slowly drive heavy truck with chemicals up the mountain road to blow the gate on the bridge, blowing sh*t up all around you with M79, all that with "Bombay Twist" - that's one of the highlights of the game...
Just listen to the music - it's freaking hilarious!!!))))
The last part is also awesomely kitschy and touchy at the same time!
Don't get me wrong - that burning weed Jamaican style was a real jewel, but FC4 also has something to be proud of in that department...![]()
Not for hillarity, kitschiness or anything else, Further and Falling Into A Dream from the official Far Cry 3 soundtrack are very well done original pieces of music. In fact they have a spot in my main playlist on my MP3 thumbdrive I listen to in my truck.
I've had several pasengers ask "what is that music, I really like it". Odd to tell them its tracks from a game sound track, but there you have it, good music that doesn't NEED the connection to the action to have merit, it stands on it own.
And, I think the OP is being unneccesarily harsh, but he knew that up front when he framed it with the little kid pouting in the corner mesage that he cared not to defend or discuss his position. Go buy something from AE, the overwhelming majority like FC3 and FC4 on their own merit.
Have a nice day.
I rarely ever rate a game on music, closest to it was I really liked RE4's ambients. Even if I like the music, I usually get tired of the repetition of it after the first play through and turn it off. I also play most games on every difficulty mode, and on higher ones I like to be able to hear the enemies footsteps, predators, etc.
On plots, I feel Far Cry 4 wins. It has more depth due to the scale of oppression going on, it has more class due to the main villains eloquence for speaking, and it's characters are much easier to relate to. Vaas comes off like a ghetto psycho idiot. His sister Citra a cheap tramp. Buck is a sleazy perv that gets tiresome real fast. Hoyt is a fairly flashy character, but I'll take Min over him any day, he's funnier and smarter. Sam was about the only likable character in Far Cry 3. Even the kids that got kidnapped were mostly annoying or pathetic. The only characters in Far Cry 4 that stick out as ridiculous are Yogi and Reggie. That's the one weak spot where they descended to grade school level writing. At times Amita and Sabal get petty and arrogant, but the conditions and decisions they struggle with make it realistic.
I also feel the map in Far Cry 4 is WAY better. You said yourself the Himalayas are nice, and there's so much more verticality in general to it. It's quite diverse in it's features, and the grappling really adds to the experience. Far Cry 3 also had one glaring flaw in the way the map tied into the story. There's no plausible way for that boat being in that cave, or being able to escape in it.
Far Cry 4 launched with a lot of technical flaws, which are pretty much fixed now for most, but Far Cry 3 had some huge design flaws.
I never have the music on while IN the game. However for FC3 I made one exception; when Jason first meets Hoyt in the compound and in the final departure from the south island with Riley in the helo - that was epic.
For FC4 - that they FORCE you to have to listen to that noise during the Key To The North mission is downright sadistic!! When I discovered that the normal radio on/off key didn't work, had to simply turn off the speakers until I blew the truck - with pleasure!!
I agree that for simply listening pleasure the soundtrack for FC3 was very good, but that might be simply a different generation "thing". Not at all impressed with what got produced for FC4.
