If they don't release a broken game on launch day they have to go and break the only game that launched without issues! unbelievable Ubisoft

Switching to Ultra shadows restores your frame rate!

In my opinion, in FC4 the visual difference between Soft and Ultra shadows is hardly noticeable (and I'm a visual details freak), so you're good with Ultra shadows.

    Needs to be fixed nevertheless!!!

They really don't seem to have any kind of quality control these days. The only thing missing now is copying the latest Watch Dogs patch which completely broke SLI in that game. It's literally unplayable on my computer, but was luckily working fine (apart from the driving stutter) until then.

I really need help, too! Before nearly 60fps +/- now about 30!!!

    Hey Guys, hey Ubisoft,

beofre the Patch I was amazed about playing the game at super smooth 50-65 FPS on 1080p, Ultra + all Nvidida Tech Works! The first run wasnt very pleasant because of weird lags but that was maybe just a bug. Then, after a Patch the game did run perfectly.
Now on 1.8 something must have been broken. Im experiencing really heavy stuttering and lags and the overall outdoor Performance ist somewhere between 35-45Fps.
This is a huge drop of neary 50%. My System is completley clean and brand new. This cannot be (tolerated). I mean I#ve payed for this product and whant it to play.
Also it worked before and I had much fun on it. So what to do now? is there a way to get back to one patch before? Ubisoft, I really need help.

It should work as it is meant to be.

I dont want to get along with this tweak. It worked before and I was happy about playing wit hall that Eyecandy. Thats why I bought a Hi End Card and bouhgt a High end game.
It is nice to get that help but I want you Ubisoft repair the features which were working before!

    That's what I said myself.
But until it is, you have only three options - turn Soft shadows on and play with reduced frame rate, switch to Ultra shadows and play with normal FPS, or do not play FC4 at all.
The "Eyecandy" in case of Soft shadows vs Ultra in this game is really almost invisible...

Ah, and if you want, you can make an experiment - I found a new entity in Far Cry 4\data_win32 folder, that was added there exactly when the game was updated to version 1.8.0.
If you look there, you will find two files - shadersobj.dat and shadersobj.fat. I don't really know what they do, but the name sounds like as maybe they have something to do with graphics... You can try to remove them (or just rename) and see what happens...

You are totally right. The eyecandy in this special feature isnt such a big difference but it is more psycholical aspect. I want to have all on.. thats why I#ve jutst bought a new card
But thanks for the tip with the shadows. I just played few hours with the same performance as before and it still looked gorgeous.

this is why its so messed up that they do not include up to date patch release notes with the patches that detail what has been addressed and or fixed
and instead rely on the end user to try to figure out whats changed or updated ...

but even with 1.60 the last time they did include patch release notes they were very vague..every patch should come with DETAILS

other developers do this all the time with detailed notes with every patch they release ...

Turn off Soft Shadows, it's a resource hog, problem solved.
