    Patch 1.8.0 Reduced FPS

I was able to play the game almost maxed out at around 70 to 80 fps. After I downloaded this patch my performance has dropped and I am getting around 30 to 40 fps in the same exact areas with the same graphics settings. I have a gtx 980, i5 3570k oc'd to 4.3GHz, and 8 GBs of RAM.

Same here! I'm averaging about 25-30 fps less with the new patch.

Same here. 780 GTX on 347.25 drivers. i7 @ 3.4 Ghz, 32 GB RAM. Went from steady 50-60 FPS on mostly Ultra settings to sitting in the mid 30s most of the time. Very noticeable and unpleasant change. Sent an email to Ubisoft support more as a heads up including specs, settings, and other metrics, and received the generic "sir, are you sure your computer is plugged in?" response. If anyone has any luck with this, please do tell.

Thanks for sending in a report so we can look into it. Keep in mind that it's worth trying/following up on some of the "have you tried turning it off and on again" suggestions as sometimes system/user-end causes have to be eliminated by the support team before issues can be escalated. Multiple reports with system info also help. Patience and communication are always appreciated.

Same exact problem on my notebook. I'm getting 30fps with GTX 880M SLI. It's stupid.

I have to brute force the game with my desktop to get playable frames.

I have the exact same issue on my GTX 970 OCd or not!
I usually play with Fraps on and my framerates have halved with this last patch! I was getting a solid 60+ fps usually which is now down to 30-40.
    WTF UBISOFT?

It was discovered that the reason for sudden FPS drop with the new patch is that Soft shadows are broken again!
Switching to Ultra shadows restores your frame rate!

BTW, TXAA also have some issues (flickering textures) after recent update, so it seems that we have another round of "nVidia presets" mess on our hands...

This fixed it for me! Thanks, excellent work figuring this out! Maybe a bad code merge on Ubisoft side, reintroducing old bug...

It wasn't me who figured it out, I think werdsworth was the first to notice it:
