    Performance worse after 1.8.0 patch.

I was able to play the game almost maxed out at around 70 to 80 fps. After I downloaded this patch my performance has dropped and I am getting around 30 to 40 fps in the same exact areas with the same graphics settings. I have a gtx 980, i5 3570k oc'd to 4.3GHz, and 8 GBs of RAM.

Reset graphic settings in-game, then change them back to the way you had them and the game runs fine again.

Thanks for the tip, I experienced similar drop in performance...

    any patch notes?

Also the frame rate drop is tied to the Nvidia Soft Shadows setting. Its about a 20-30 fps difference from the ultra setting.

No need to reset to default

That helped, I am now getting 70 to 80 fps average now. I do not know why. but prior to the patch I was able to play the game with soft shadows on with no problem.

OK, originally I played with soft shadows, but from some switched to ultra, because the difference was almost invisible. But the performance penalty was also very minor.
My drop in performance was somewhat temporary glitch, after loading another session I didn't notice any difference from before the last patch...

So they broke soft shadows again... Nice...

What I DID notice are horrible flickering textures on the borders between water and land when I switched to TXAA - you can see these artifacts very well while flying in a Buzzer along a river. This flickering appears at medium distances, it disappears when you come closer.

I've experienced a similar drop in performance with 1.8 as well. Tried resetting gfx settings, did no good. Re-did tweak to turn off AlphaToCoverage (which does near nothing in FC4 but costs FPS) in GamerProfile.xml. Slight improvement but still crappy. I finally had to change from TXAA4 to SMAA and now have decent smoothness. With 1.7 I could max every setting and it was still nice and smooth, even with simulated fur and multiple animals on screen at once, so this is disappointing. Using a EVGA 970 FTW card / Intel i7 4770K @ 4.4GHz / 32GB 2400Mhz RAM / Samsung 840 Pro SSD, so it's a reasonably beefy system.

SMAA is not the end of the world and still looks great, but it would be nice to have the performance I had under 1.7 back.

Strange , I did not notice any changes in performance or any glitches , and I play all on max ultra in 1080p, including soft shadows and simulated fur

Not the only thing that caused fps drops. If some of us didn't reset the settings (or deleted the settings file and let the game rebuild it) it would stutter like mad even if we didn't use soft shadows from the beginning.
