I'm trying to improve my time on Pipeline Camp, but I'm having difficulty with one part. About half way through the track you are thrown through the air by an explosion, which allows you to clear the fire pit. Sometimes, when I make the jump, the wooden platform beneath the explosion is blown off and allows me to fly through the air faster than I normally would. This saves about a second or race time, I big chunk of time.
The problem I'm having is that I can't figure out how to reliably activate the platform. I probably get it about 2/10 times I hit it. It's just frustrating to have a good run ruined by something that feels random. So I was just wandering if anyone had figured out how to activate it with some degree of reliability.
I've tried leaning back, leaning forward, accelerating, not accelerating, leaning forward and then quickly backwards, leaning back and then quickly forwards. None of these have been reliable, that I have found. Do I need to lean at a specific point?
Any help would be appreciated.
I just got a few goes at that part. It looks indeed very random. Although, what I found out, is that backleaning works the best. But, as many other people will say, I suggest racing ghosts of people who did it better than you to see what they did at that point.
That's what I've been doing. Normally I just look at ghosts and figure it out from there. Looking at ghosts though, it seems people do a bunch of different things. I guess I'll just keep on running it until a good run coincides with a good jump.
Cheers for checking it out though
EDIT: Don't need help anymore. I got lucky and took 8th placeBeen trying for a while to improve this and as soon as I make a thread I beat my time, lol.
It does feel random, but there's definitely a technique.
What works best for me is letting off gas just a little bit before it, keep the rider neutral, and lean forward as the explosion happens.
It'd be nice if Burnzee or Kartank knew a better way and shared it.
i hate this thing. same thing with tree houses.
Interesting. I might give that a try and see how I do. It's always handy to know how to make the track work for showdowns, and if I ever want to beat my timeOriginally Posted by xzamplez Go to original post![]()
I've noticed that as well, but it feels so counterintuitive. I guess the idea of slowing down is that it puts you closer to the point of explosion when it happens, instead of being a little farther away?Originally Posted by xzamplez Go to original post
The other thing that could be tested is a combination of a wheelie with different leans at explosion time.
That would be so difficult to replicate if it were true. I think I'd rather chance it with two wheels than get a specific lean in a wheelie. Although I do suck at wheeliesOriginally Posted by izdale Go to original post![]()
I haven't verified, but if you apply law of physics, which are simulated in the game, you have a chance to get that boost if you go fast enough and at the moment of explosion you rotate clockwise, i.e. your rear wheel gets off the ground, thus giving more room for the rear side of the board to go up, thus push the whole bike more forward than up.
Exactly. Although I was just randomly doing it full speed, so I have no idea. It really is a stupid obstacle, unless there is a consistent way to do it.Originally Posted by izdale Go to original post
