You may be lucky and perhaps not all is lost... if you play with Uplay Online, they must have a back up on their cloud.
If you play Offline only, search with Explorer.exe for *.sav files, there should be at least two... 1.sav & 2.sav but you could also have 3.sav & 4.sav now that you started a new game.
Check the date modified and if they have the date from 2 or 3 days ago, those are your old saved games. Now it is as simple as changing the number of your games back.
Remember 1.sav & 2.sav are the main Saved Games, the Primary Saved so if you have 3 & 4 with the old dates then you must rename 1 & 2 with something like 1.bak & 2.bak and then rename 3.sav to 1.sav and 4.sav to 42sav
Restart for good measure, start the game again and don not START a new Game for the love of God! LOL

BTW, is "pascal.vasmant" your Steam nick name by any chance?
Here is my tutorial on this forum:

I think you should consider starting to backup your saves to prevent similar issues in the future...![]()
Sorry to revive this old thread but the same thing just happened to me a couple of days ago... I lost my old saves because of an account hacking/synchronisation problem...
There is no older saves anywhere in my computer nor in the uplay cloud (which I disconnected, but too late...). Very discouraged I found a supposedly completed game at gameforsave website...
question 1: can one trust this?
question 2: if I can use it, how do I proceed? when you download their completed save it gives you a forder called save1 which is for uplay and steam versions. Inside, when unzipped, there are 3 files: Save001.sav Save002.sav and saves.ini
I tried just pasting these in my 420 folder but it didnt work... I tried renaming these 2 to 1.save and 2.save and paste them in my 420 folder, but still, when I start Farcry, it only gives me the option to start a new game... Any hint on how to proceed to get a healthy advanced or completed save?
thanks
version does not matter
what matters is "LEGIT VERSION "
You can replay missions and have multiple save files . its not that hard to do .
what i do is right when you start the mission , and the mission name is displayed on my screen , is Alt tab out of the game,
Then open C:\ Program files X86 \ Ubisoft \ Ubisoft game launcher \savegames \ *a folder with a long series
of letters and numbers Varies from system to system* \ 856
Then open my thumb drive make a new folder on my usb thumb drive with the name of the mission like , Dont_look_down or A_darkPlace or death_fromAbove ...ect.. ect..
then copy and paste the 856 folder into the new folder i made with the name of the mission
to replay that mission i copy and paste that 856 folder back to
C:\ Program files X86 \ Ubisoft \ Ubisoft game launcher \savegames \ *a folder with a long series
of letters and numbers Varies from system to system* \ 856
you can create multiple saves this way ... and replay any mission , i made backups of every mission in the game, so i can replay them with differnt weapons and loadouts.
(you can also play both sides of the Balance of Power missions by doing this , as the missions from Sabal are Different then what you get from Amita)
each save consists of 4 small files
1.save
1.save.upload
2.save
2.save.upload
one is an auto save the other is a user created save point, the other ones are upload files that save to the cloud ,and it will always make those .upload files even if you shut off the cloud save option in Uplay settings
see https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=E8cTOvbgyrs < by 04AM again thank you man for making this video when i asked
or use Akunamatta's guide and use a .bat file

the steam version of the game, saves your game to
C:\ Program files X86 \ Ubisoft \ Ubisoft game launcher \savegames \ *a folder with a long series
of letters and numbers Varies from system to system* \ 856
the Uplay only version they are in
C:\ Program files X86 \ Ubisoft \ Ubisoft game launcher \savegames \ *a folder with a long series
of letters and numbers Varies from system to system* \ 420
you do have to shut off the Uplay Cloud save option in the Uplay client settings .. but you should do this anyway, as it can create problems with a corrupted cloud save (it happened to me with FarCry 3 years ago and i had to delete my saved games and start the game all over , was the only way to fix it )
oh and ALWAYS before you start a new game go to that 856 folder and clear out and delete the saves you have left in there ...BEFORE you start a new game , not doing so can make the game go a bit WONKY , like one time i did not clear that out.... and i had ZERO Pagans Wrath convoys appear at all in my game , and i was unable to unlock the vehichle take down Skill.
if you need backed up save files use Akuna's i tried em here and they worked perfect
https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/...ollection2.rar
or try mine both worked fine with versions 1.7.0 thru 1.10.0 (the current version of Far Cry 4
tho mine do not cover all of the game ..they cover many missions
http://www.filedropper.com/farcry4saves
my version is the Steam + uplay version ..so my copy uses 856 for sdave files .. if you have a uplay only version your folder number will be 420 .. just follow the instructions i posted above and put the files in the right folder number
glad it worked out for ya
you should do manual back up your save files .. its not hard to do
