Ubisoft, you still have several thousand users to whom you've sold a game, that have never been able to play it. Are you actually trying to resolve the blackscreen crashes? Am I wasting my time waiting for some action from you on this issue? After an initial support runaround in the first few weeks, my tickets have all gone ignored. That was 2 months ago. The reason they give is that they all report an identical problem, but I still have the identical problem. I donated $90 to a company who gave me nothing for it.
I'm sure there are many here who would love to know that you're working on resolving a catastrophic failure of your product. I appreciate that there are a great many issues you have developers committed to. All the little bugs, tweaks and failures must be very annoying for the users who experience them. Me, I'd love to have those sorts of problems, but I (and many others) still have not been able to play the game at all. Surely that must be some level of priority for you.
Look, I honestly don't care anymore. Just void my Ubisoft account and give me back my money. At this point I'd happily go away. But asking me and those in my position to hang around with no news of any future repair is really over the line.
To the OP:
Your case is not normal. There are many hundreds of thousands (millions?) or users playing the game just fine. Some experience stuttering, some of these are IMO hyper-critical assessments, meaning some might not even notice, some will, and yet others have bonafide issues.
The reason for my post is not to play the part of "fan boy", nor to celebrate my "good fortune" by being able to play just fine (patch 1.06 absolutely did create a memory leak, since solved), but to encourage you revisit your machine's configuration to the smallest detail. Have you installed drivers over the top of older ones without doing a clean install option? Are you running a configuration you refuse to touch "because it works with other games"?
I haven't had ONE crash, even with the memory leak release. I've never had a fail to start. If your machine is giving you issues, you MUST understand that there are vastly more people running just fine, than those having issues. At some point its on you to eliminate the possibility your machine is at fault. Running other games is NOT sufficient evidence that your machine is clean.
It should run, and you should have every right to complain about design choices, porting limitations, and anything else related to Ubi's vision for the game, but you have to get your machine to run it first.
Please give it a good going over.
from my personal experience, i have 30h on record now and still going, avg FPS is 50 on single GTX 970 @ 2560 x 1440, game fully maxed out + Nvidia features + SMAA. anyway, encountered a problem that happened twice when launching the game where it stutters badly but this can be solved by restarting the game and also had two crashes.
but considering the overrall experience and gameplay time, the game runs great and those problems are considered trivial, my only complaint is draw distance, you can see things popping when you are flying.
As there are Millions of various computers out there, with many more millions of different combinations of various software residing on those machines, Sometimes it's hard to know which one piece of software isn't playing well with another. In my case, I was unable to play this game until the first patch to fix the game pad issue. The game didn't mind my Nostromo n52te, but it didn't like the Belkin software to run it.
I too am one of the lucky ones where the game is running well. But there is nothing wrong with a Customer asking that the game be better optimized. Maybe I'm old school .. but I still believe most of us here work hard for our money, and it's not old fashion to expect quality with quantity. STOP accepting mediocre, it's as good as it needs to be thinking. Trust me, the big boys in those game company offices only care about the money. Game devs work their rears off only to have some shirt tell them it's as good as it needs to be for right now.
This type of issues are just Lazy Issues if you ask me, more so because they are BASIC features that SHOULD work 100% at start up of a game and one should not have to wait weeks for a fix or wait 2 days to download a massive 30GB game only to endure a few more hours for an initial patch/update.Originally Posted by Stockdale50 Go to original post
This is the most annoying thing for me.
Could not said it better myself... BRAVO!!!!Originally Posted by Stockdale50 Go to original post
I have been trying to say this and people get back to me that because we are looking at alledgedly Next Gen Tech we should accept it as normal. it's as good as it needs to be mentality is what is wrong with the issues we now have on most new games.
BRAVO x 2
No-one is playing this game on PC "just fine." With patch 1.7 my only real complaint was about the damn stuttering that occurs while driving at high speeds. Besides that though it stuttered as soon as you couldn't keep a stable 60fps which is BAD on it's own. Seeing as how their recommendations in terms of soft- and hardware can't keep a solid 60 at all. Running it over 60fps made it stutter in other aspects which forced us to cap the framerate to 60fps. Using a 144Hz monitor this isn't optimal at all.Originally Posted by Far_Cry2_Fan Go to original post
Patch 1.8 made it all worse!
Now I'm getting frame drops from 60 to 30 just by standing ****ing still. Every three seconds there's a frozen frame to behold no matter what I do in the game. Doesn't matter which settings I use. No other software that potentially could affect it is running in the background. There's absolutely nothing wrong with my configuration or hardware. Been building computers for over thirteen years. I know my stuff to say the least. I have specs that exceeds the recommended specs by far and still to this day with so many patches being rolled out it's still one big and sad ****-up. I usually don't swear in my writing, but this is so god damn unacceptable that I don't know what. Using a i5 2500K @ 4.3GHz, 16GB RAM and a GTX970 (which is not using >= 3.5GB VRAM). Running Win 8.1. Every important windows update is installed.
I'm never even going to redeem a voucher from Ubisoft again.
Seriously. How the hell did they manage to screw this game up like this?
What kind of QA do they have?
1.4GB worth of space in exchange for what?
EDIT:
Just after writing this I booted up the game again. Now the drops are gone! It's running like it should.
No change in running processes. All I did was restart it a third time.
And as we speak ... Patch 1.8 is released ...
Thanks Give Me Tactical, I've heard you say this too, and it's nice to know we're not alone. Toit, I add that pre-ordering is a must stop behavior as well. Although, I do admit to pre-ordering this title one day before release so that I made sure I could reserve a copy at Game Stop. I'm a dying dinosaur generation who just wants something tangible for my money and own a physical copy.
I know a few Dev's in the industry, and they are not lazy people, or lazy coders. Trust me on this. They are under the gun just as much as any working employee. It's a shame they get attacked as they do. Threats of some serous dreadful disease, death threats as well as violent crimes perpetrated on their family's. This is another trend that needs to cease. The Producers are in charge of making sure these pieces come together in a time line ... Then Quality Assurance to make sure the pieces work. In my opinion this is where the fail starts to occur. The ultimate fail is the shirts who need to report numbers by means of rushing an unfinished product out the door with a "Don't worry, we'll patch it later" mentality. NOT DEVS .. but the shirts need to be held accountable for this.
This title is an amazing game, and we've come a very long way from where PC games were just 10 years ago. I could not in my wildest dreams imagine I'd be playing a game while riding an elephant. HEY UBI .. want to improve your reputation? IMPROVE your communication. A complaining customer is still a customer .. it's when they stop complaining is when you have to worry.
Eh, was about to reply, game runs like crap now with 1.8. With 1.7 I got a steady 60fps @ 2560x1440 with SLI 980. Now it's dipping to 40fps with 96% GPU usage...Originally Posted by knerlington Go to original post
Ok, going to restart game 2 more times now...![]()
