The standard wired Xbox 360 controller should operate with the game. However, if you are using the wireless version of the controller, please check for driver updates. Please submit a ticket to Support if you have any further questions, concerns or issues here: https://support.ubi.com.

WARNING: There are issues with using controllers with the PC version of the game, which have yet to be addressed by mods, admins or any official ubisoft employees.

Since buying the game a few weeks ago, I have been unable to play it due to this issue. My controller works, but whenever it is plugged in critical assets like enemies, npc's, mission objectives and map markers do NOT load into the game, requiring me to alt-tab out and back in every time i am mid mission to 'remind' the game I am playing and load the assets.

I have requested a response on this forum numerous times, as well as a refund since I am unable to play the game as advertised. However, my words have fallen on deaf ears, and as such I feel obligated to warn potential buyers about this issue.

I have no idea why some people are having this issue (look it up on the forums there are numerous posts about it here and elsewhere online), so you do risk being unable to play the game if you buy it now.

    Buyer beware

I used a wireless xbox 360 controller to play through the whole game.

    No issues at all.

    Running Windows 8.1.

I finished the game about a week ago. I have been playing Borderlands TPS this last week.

I guess Windows 8.1 basic. It is not pro or ultimate. I am running 64 bit.

On that machine I use the official Microsoft adapter. On my other 3 machine's I have the knock-off adapters.

I guess the adapters are coded, and Windows knows the official adapters from the knock-offs.

Windows will not load the Xbox 360 Wireless Peripherals driver automatically for the knock-off adapters.

I use the official adapter to get the software/drivers to install, but I have to manually select that driver when I switch to the knock-off adapters.

There is a place to download the Microsoft drivers and force them load for manual selection, but they were hard to google and I don't remember the link.

I don't think there will be a difference between the official and knock-off adapters once the Microsoft xbox 360 Wireless Controller drivers are installed.

The adapters play all the games I play (Borderlands 2/TPS, Watch Dogs, Far Cry 3/4, Assassin's Creed 3/4, Dead Island 1/Riptide, probably some others I forgot).

I had a little trouble with the TellTale games, but that is whole other thing (gotta have the controller on first for their older games).

I did not play Far Cry 4 on my Windows 7 boxes, but the other games work fine on either Windows 7 or 8.1.

windows 7.1 64 bit ultimate edition

i do think Mr rcole_sooner hit the nail on the head tho about having to use only the official MS wireless connector for your game pad .. as i can see that possibly the knock off versions may use a different driver an such which may not function correctly

and may explain why the X box pads work fine for some (that have the official Microsoft part) .....

versus those who bought a cheaper knock off version of the wireless connector ..as there is a disparity in the price of the two ...there may also be a disparity with its functionality

as to the wired version of the X box pads i have noticed that there are several different game pad loadouts in the ......in game .... game pad pad settings
as well as a setting for default

i left my controller set to default as its not a PS4 controller or an X box controller

its a wired logitech ..which is not listed in the in game settings......... tho it looks similar to an old PS controller

and i only used it like i said to control some vehicles as well as that evil wingsuit mission for Willis Death from above as well as the shangri la flying

rest of the game i use a keyboard and mouse as i will never figure out how any one can play a first person shooter game with anything else

i find my aim is much more precise with my logitech G400S gaming mouse

im having the exact same problem as one of the guys up there ^, game starts and works fine with a gampad in, except critical assets wont load and stuff, got stuck in the very first room because the button prompt to leave wouldnt appear at the door with the gamepad in. also before the mod says, ive had a ticket open with ubi-support for a good part of 4-5 weeks now, its gone ignored and unanswered by anyone, ive continued to update it to make sure it doesnt just get auto solved, but not one single reply from support.
