Ill start. Track difficulties diversity lacking. No beginners/easy. No Roach tracks. Lava overkill. Would have been cool on 2, maybe 3 tracks but not all of them. Riding on molten lava where you cant see the little nick and bumps is annoying. The skill game looks very repetitive, with minimal changes every loop. If it had been similar to the In Flames skill game from HD, it would have made a HUGE difference, more incentive to get to the end without feeling grinded.
Deeper Underground takes the cake for the worst built track in Trials history...BY FAR. You cant even see the rider at certain sections, coupled with physic objects. I genuinely would like to know who all had an hand in building this and the reasons why it was put together the way it was. This track was so bad it literally made me disliked the whole DLC, which i thought was OKAY before i had gotten this far.
Extreme track seems a little easier than its counterpart hard-technical tracks which i thought was odd.
Thoughts?
I can answer a couple of your question/statements:
It's Fire in the Deep, there's gonna be fire/lava/magma.
"I genuinely would like to know who all had an hand in building this and the reasons why it was put together the way it was."
The RedLynx level design team, and that's how they decided the track should be. I wouldn't mind getting some more elaborate feedback than just "worst track ever in the history of Trials", as I actually enjoy the track. There are some sections that I'm not hitting well, but nothing that some practice won't help with. I think the animations are really well done, and I am SURE I can get that top line... I've been sooooo close.
Best DLC yet. More tracks = value for money. Driving lines aren't the hardest to master which makes for more competition. Love the lava theme. Still not a fan of FMX tracks but the skill game is just the best one ever. An 'In Flames" Skill Game was long overdue and this one is perfect, doesn't end at a wall where whoever bangs into it the hardest gets 1st, this one is just so addictive and perfect
I feel alittle sorry for the developers , it seems that it doesnt matter what they create. They bring future dlc out and it get slammed for not being evo and they bring another style of rustic unearthed track out and they get slammed for making to much earthy tracks. I woud say this dlc not only stands good alone but also opens up a whole new level of design that so many fans of trials have been asking for. The editor stuff has opened up a path way past the future fusion that had been dubbed a rubbish concept. The tracks them self are a complete different theme then anything fusion has had to offer so far and doesnt follow the fusion code of design which i think i a fantastic way to add diversity to fusion. We all wanted a future that was real a future that hasnt got silly lazer beams and flying cars. This is it and it has for me opened many doors within the creative world that i once thought i would not be able to create without it looking stretched and an eyesore. There is a complete train set with a future engine yet a base ( carriges ) that can be built on to any style you wish. There is an underground train tunnel , a massive rought iorn birdge with complete set of tracks.
The tracks them selfs are always a delight to play but i think maybe in some way and to be honest about time , that this dlc was actually aimed at the creators of the game and not the riders. The lava it self is pretty dam awsome and ok things can get too much but this is the case with every dlc for a few weeks , thats the way it is.
This dlc in my opinion has changed the face of the creating side of fusion , it has given us many things that will allow is to be more creative and more diverse. Someone spoke of the life span of this dlc well i for one think that the objects and efffects within fire in the deep has stretched out the life span of people continuing to make creative tracks so therefore the life span of the dlc is massive. This not only is a fantastic dlc this is one that has changed the face of the types of tracks that were being made.
i for one was getting fed up with seeing the fusion future as it was , this future is much more of an eye opener and much more to get down and dirty with.
awsome stuff with fire in the deep , like the gruff too
What platform are you on? Xbone? On 360 it's not as bad as you describe it.Originally Posted by Retribution Go to original post
I really liked playing this one, although I have to agree with it being easy. I think it's that the individual extreme obstacles are harder, but the track easier, and the individual obstacles of the hard track are easier, but the track itself is harder. Atleast that is how I see it. (To get the platinum)Originally Posted by Retribution Go to original post
I think the dlc is really good. Level design is amazing but lots of tireglitches, and I'm not someone to notice them easily and gets frustrated by them (Hate grinding tracks :P) . The lava rocks objects should not have been used on the dl imo. Some timesavers seem a little bit off, but I'll just shrug that off because of lack of skill.
I think I've seen some people on here commenting on the pipes, but to be honest, I didn't have an issue with them, more with those rocks. Also don't have a problem with the amount of lava. They might have gone overboard with it, but the design of the lava looks great, even on 360, so my guess is the designers are proud of their achievement and wanted to show it off. And good for them.
edit: haven't looked at all the objects in the editor so can't really comment on that.
Best DLC for the moment : 11 tracks (9 trials, 1 fmx & 1 skill game), 1 new helmet, 1 new bodykit (even if it's for panda), more unique/new objects for the editor and not just remakes, addition of the Zudina's audio logs.
All tracks respect more the theme compared to the previous dlc, they are very nice, less tireglitches than previous dlc (at least less outrageous), very nice job with the challenges (even if i hate the 2nd on the 1st track & the 2nd on the 3rd track, who deserve a dislike only for this lol) and THE BEST SQUIRREL EVER (better than one in rider of the rustlands).
Regarding Deeper Underground, there are two points on the track where your vision is obscured by particle effects, one being near the start with a random smoke cloud from the grate, the next being shortly there after from the falling platform. The issue that speedrunners have with these obstacles are that until its in-grained in memory, very annoying to speedrun through when you can barely see your back tire landing. (its also more a lighting issue in that area as well)
I'm more of a casual player than a speedrunner, though I still go for platinum on all tracks I can and it certainly was difficult for me the first few times I was grinding the track just because of that lack of vision.
I also want to bring up tireglitching, its worth talking about.
Whenever I watch a speedrunner, or a ninja streamer, this is the NUMBER ONE criticism I always hear about. Can't consistently do this obstacle due to tireglitching, risk of tireglitching here and there. Pipes, rocky surfaces etc. These guys are the best in the world at your game, they know what they're talking about. And yet for some reason I barely see this being discussed between Redlynx and the community in general.
Again, I don't speedrun, the only time this issue has been a problem for me is on FMX tracks (which funny enough, was worked around using accelerator pads on the newest track). But why not listen to those guys? I would go as far as to suggest you hire one of the consistent top 10 leaderboard runners to QA test your tracks, or at the very least invite them during dlc development to go over the tracks. If you have them there, not dictating track design but suggesting little improvements like a custom collision here, change of surface there, less particle effects in this area etc. just something like that would go a long way to pleasing the hardcore fans of your game.
Personally I loved the DLC, coulda used more playtesting in general definitely, but still good
edit: Suck it Rob! Higher word count :P
I thought all the DLC's were fun and entertaining so far.
Ret might be looking at it through the eyes of a competetive player,
but imo Fusion isn't about that and never has been. Its just a fun game
and we should judge it on its own merits and stop comparing it to Trials Evo.
Its like DJ 2wItchY once said on twitter:
You get a happy meal at mickey dees for 5 bucks
wich doesn't last even remotely as long as playing through 1 DLC
pack if you go for every platinum, do a couple of challenges and get all the achievements.
Im paraphrasing, but you get the point and i actually agree with it.
Sure, as a Trials fan i want more bang for my buck but i dont feel robbed at all.
If you are not completely cynical and an anti-ubisoft extremist, [i got a lil bit of both of that going on myself]
you can get 1-2 hours of entertainment out of every dlc pack.
5 dollars for 2 hours, not a bad deal.
This DLC is like all the others to me.
Its got stuff i like:
The maze on Deeper Underground was cool.
Skill game was repetetive but fun.
I liked the hard tracks.
I like the look of the fire and lava, some good looking tracks in this DLC.
And stuff i dont like:
The train level makes me want to punch a baby and i thought the extreme was boring and way to short & easy.
The tire glitches were running rampant again, especially on rock surfaces and pipes,
and collecting 9 audio logs for an achievement wasn't my cup of tea.
Anybody still reading? No? cool.
Funktastic the 2nd here with another essay.
Noone reads these long post of ours bro, i bet we can sneak in some bad words and bypass security.
Lets do it!
The tire glitches are very prevalent, which makes me just give a hopeless sigh at this point. I honestly don't think they even pay attention to tire glitches when testing these tracks. Redlynx, you spend all this time on the background, but what good is that if the track is inconsistent?
I like the look of the lava, and the environmental changes kept it from feeling too repetitive.
The tracks are definitely too dark at points. Add that to the fact you're riding on rocks, and you can't see where your bike is actually coming into contact with them.
No ATV, Roach, or Rabbit tracks are fine by me.
The skill game is pretty sweet.
Am I the only one who misses warehouse tracks like crazy?
