Is it common to be called out for your track like/dislikes?

I was contacted by another user and asked to justify my "thumbs down" rating on one of his tracks. He then specifically asked me to like tracks if I know the builder has put in time...
My response was to refer them to the forum if they want constructive criticism of their tracks As I was unable to find the track in question on TC again I could't be more specific about my reasons. I also made him aware that I don't troll tracks and only give my true opinion.

However, I was unaware anyone could see your rating of their track, I've never looked for individual ratings myself and don't see how it could be valuable.

I don't like leaving no rating on tracks and to be honest I preferred the star system of Evo.

I do not know this player and they're not on any friend list I know of. I will keep their identity secret at the moment to avoid any embarrassment on their behalf.

If this becomes a common occurrence it would make me less likely to vote in future tracks and less likely to spend time looking through new releases, as a new builder I used the ratings to gauge my progress. Never once called anyone out for their opinion.

Dont worry about it, it happens.
Rating up/down based on your true opinion is the only way to rate, how else?
A boring or bad track can have hundreds of hours put into it, but that dont justify a thumbs up.
I dont think you can see individual ratings, they most likely had an eye on the leaderboard and noticed a new entry
and then had a look at the thumbs up/down under track-details.

    keep building, riding, rating....

Don't let anyone "bully" you to only give good feedback or no feedback at all. Rating system is there for honest opinions and some people are more harsh than others, but with a lot of users it balances out.

I contacted a user once i asked the same question , was it me , this was when i first building mind you . However i knew for a fact that it was his intentions all along from the 3 2 1 go that he played my track purely to disslike it. At the moment i have 5 i know of that do this i even know what time they are going to play and disslike my tracks.

If someone send you a message that you dont want to reply to just send , " sorry nobody is in right now and never plans to be , thanx "

    This is sooo funny badger

there is no balance within the rating system , if there was balance tracks with only 30 likes that has been downloaded over 1000 time would not be above tracks with over 200 likes. One of my tracks last week was second to top or maybe third with over 500 likes yet it was still behind a track or 2 of ones with not even over 100 likes , ok at the time it also had 15 disslikes but still thats not balance within a rating system which tell gamers what is a great track to play. The dislike takes far too much off the factor or the scoring , and maybe the name should be changed to. Maybe playable tracks of the week lol

    balance ha

I'm not going into specifics because it could allow the system to intentionally be manipulated, but the rating system is balanced and ratios are weighted.

    -.-

I was talking about dislikes and likes on an individual track. If someone is harsh when voting and someone is lenient it all balances out with enough players

It all balances out in the end. :P People should be honest about a track when judging a track, they shouldn't thumbs up just because they can pass it or they are streaming and people can judge you more easy when you're streaming.

    Greetings,

The problem is you only have 2 choices.. you either like it or you don't. The evolution star system was better as there was in effect 5 choices.
