I'm having the same issue. It says it's searching for players, then that it has found players and then tries to connect but after a few seconds it starts searching for players again and never gets anywhere.
Everything else in Trials works, leaderboards, dlc are all fine and all my other games (destiny, battlefield, etc) work fine in multiplayer.
I connect through a router and on the multiplayer screen it states I have a Nat type 2, I'm on Virgin media broadband and I'm in England in case any of that is relevant.
If I find anything that gets it working I'll post here, please do the same if you get a solution.

Same as you mate, in england on virgin and same thing happens. Search for players in an endless cycle

Just to add a bit more info. I've made sure my router has Upnp enabled.
I've tried adding the ports listed here
    https://support.ubi.com/en-US/FAQ/47...0000000eeogCAA
to port forwarding for my PS4.
I've even tried putting my PS4 in a DMZ on my router which changed it to NAT type 1 but I still get the same problem.

So this morning I started up trials fusion and the first thing I do is check multiplayer and this time it worked. I've had about 5 different matches and it's great.
My router is on normal settings upnp enabled but no manual port forwarding or dmz, still type 2 nat but everything is working now with multiplayer. I can only assume someone at ubisoft fixed something at thier end, whoever you are thank you.
