Made it to village, now it keeps crashing

    Hello,

OK, I have played FC4 (Gold edition through Steam) right through to where I am brought to the first village (after opening) and it auto-saved. I also manually saved and quit out. When I went to play the next day the game loaded my save, put me just outside the village, but when I move a few steps (or wait for more then 20secs or so) the game crashes to an error window. It is either a app crash with the EXE, or a d3d11.DLL issue. I have reinstalled Direct X, and made sure I have the latest drivers. It still crashes every time, and since I have no other savegames to choose from, I am stuck.

    My System:
    i5-3570K (non-overclocked) with good cooler
    MSI G45 Gaming Mobo
    8GB PC1600 RAM
    PNY GeForce GTX770
    Samsung 840 EVO SSD
    Windows 7 SP1 x64

It's weird that the game ran flawlessly through the "tutorial" opening, right through the tower battle and cutscene at the village, but now it won't run. I haven't changed anything on my end, so I figure it must be the game. Please help!

Sorry, forgot to mention, all drivers, DirectX and software up-to-date. Also, I have a good 850w PSU (no power issue) and HAF-X Case (no heat issues).

    Thanks.

Sorry i can not help you because im having the same problem. Tried most of the quick fixes, removing any unnecessary USB connections and turning off Bluetooth, and turning down graphics. I also ran GPU and CPU-z in the background to watch my temperatures and everything was fine. It must be a game issue. They need to fix this.

The game will completely freeze my computer. Have to do a hard reboot. I bought the game in late November, at that point it played ok. Now it freezes anywhere from 1 minute to 5 minute into playing every time. Still at the beginning of the game(trying to get to the radio tower). I tried turning off all USB devices/bluetooth I am not using and all drivers are up to date.

    PC Specs.
    Windows 7 SP 1 X64
AMD HD 7970 GHZ ED Vapor-x

    MSI x99s gaming 9 ack

FYI... turns out it was the nVidia drivers... once I installed the new ones that just released, it all worked.
