guunners, thank you very much for explaining that.
Yeah they caused far more negativity than anyone could've anticipated. They were a great idea but as has become painfully apparent, RL sometimes has far different ideas about stuff than the community.
It is a shame.
its kind of reminds me when they took the idea of funny crash pics and everyone thought they would actually be judged and instead just made it a random marketing tool and picked from random.
Thanks guunners. That was well explained. Would it make a difference if it was a community decision though?
i think a lot of this is because of they way they have "forced" people into the bunker. A lot of people just want to play tracks on their own. They arent going for WRs or leaderboard recognition and now here they are thrust into the pit with all the hardcore competitive guys and lets just say this isnt a match made in heaven.Originally Posted by xitooner Go to original post
I understand both sides of the argument when it comes to the bunker and ping pong and i just think it sucks weve been put in this situation in the first place.
A community pick would be cool but the idea of TF and the Wrench was that they are a sign of appreciation from RL themselves. Longtime fans who deserved this recognition, who the community thought deserved that recognition were passed over in favour of people who in some cases most of us had never even heard of when the awards were launched in Evo. That's where a lot of the venom in this community sprang from imo. I don't think T2SE ( where TF originated iirc ) had any of the aggro Evo did.
Thanks sriskus and FABE, that's really kind of you. I hope my English wasn't too bad and I'm glad you've understood what I wanted to say.
This is my own opinion: clearly yes. There would be less injustices (I don't mean there would be no injustices) by giving the decision to the community. Honestly I've seen some names getting countless nominations (from the community) for TF / wrench / picks just to be ignored by RedLynx again and again for years. At the end of Evo it was painful to see the same names still getting nominations and still being ignored.Originally Posted by FABE1888 Go to original post
That's why I hope they've definitely given up these community awards.
your english is great. i would never know it wasnt your first language.
It always seemed like a good idea to me but good ideas implemented badly often suck. Easier to see it written down and saying" it sucked in practice because......." Thanks Joe and guunners(btw your English was flawless).
Thanks for the summary guunners!
Putting F2P on top of a PVP model is definitely a part of it. But still you find plenty of references on the forums to "thats not a legit way to make legend", "you didnt win honestly because you took the track at the last second", etc. All stuff that refers to how people want to play, as opposed to the way things really are. The .... judging... of other people just leads to posts defending the other person, and it goes on and on, etc. Gets tiring after a while. What you're saying is pretty sad. I assume that all this bickering and controversy come from the completely abused prices (chips) of the tracks to unlock in the PvP mode. It's just a consequence of the free-to-play model.
I miss the pre-PvP days when we all just played the game and didnt judge each other so much.![]()
