sorry if this has already been addressed. but are there any plans to give these awards to people who support and improve the game/community? as in evo.
sorry, it was posted in the wrong forum, it was meant for fusion. cant see a way to delete. maybe a nice mod will do it for me??
i know, i saw your edit. one of our CM's mentioned that it wouldnt be coming back, cba to find a link tho
Actually, rather then deleting this, I think that's actually a good idea, but for Frontier as well! I pined after that TF in Evo, as I was a simple builder and was never really interested in the spanner. But I'd definitely like to see something like this in Frontier. The Legends Leaderboard is Kinda Like this, but nothing like the good ol TF and Spanner Symbol to let you know you were racing against someone well known in the Community for doing something extra out of the ordinary!Originally Posted by FABE1888 Go to original post
First- I wish Frontier had a track editor. That would be AMAZING.
Second- I wish my wrench (it's a WRENCH not a SPANNER you freaks!!!) would transfer over to other redlynx games, but I understand why that would be kind of stupid.
The TF and wrenches were probably the worst community awards that happened during the Evo days in my opinion. And I don't see RedLynx doing the same error again.Originally Posted by llDumptruckll Go to original post
And for the top riders: "they already have the leaderboards for recognition", so they are not true fans.
I remember a picture of Fusion before its release with the TF award. I assume they decided to remove it before releasing the game.
Spoiler: Show
are there any relevant threads explaining why they were bad ideas?
Good question! I too would love to fully understand the whole True Fan / Wrench / Spanner thing. It gets almost universal disdain whenever its brought up, which means there has to be a story there somewhere.are there any relevant threads explaining why they were bad ideas?
I do like some form of in-game recognition for in-game achievements; in a way the Donkey is such a thing. Some outfits are like that too. Would like more of that, IMO.
Not sure I understand the need for recognition for community work done outside the game(especially visible in-game). You do it because you want to. The moment you start handing out stuff in a crowd that is naturally competitive (and we play this game because we ARE), I think you can start to introduce all the bad sides of competitiveness (arrogance, envy, "he got it because he is your friend", "he didnt deserve it", "mine means more than yours", etc)... which leads to a worse community.
Case in point; I am not sure I really like how the introduction of PvP has changed this forum. Before PvP, we helped each other and complimented each other on our accomplishments. Competitions were "friendly" and it was ... us versus the game. Now we seem to have so many people who have such strong opinions on how PvP SHOULD be played...it has led to a lot more bickering and controversy here. And direct competitions have led to people "calling each other out" on the forums. Everything changes but... not really a step forward in this area, IMO.
I tried to find that but it's not easy to find something on these forums. So I didn't find anything interesting for you. And I believe that the old RL forums aren't available anymore. I remember an old post from Willyumz explaining why these awards weren't a good idea.Originally Posted by sriskus Go to original post
In short they were very unfair. Some people got awards for no reason, for example a few "True Fans" did a Trials video once and they got the TF award for that. On the other side, some very deserving people never got this kind of recognition. At first these awards were well-intentioned from RedLynx, but the way the were given only brought jealousy and negativity on the forums. It was supposed to make the community better but it made it worse (pretty much like xitooner's post is about). RedLynx made some nomination threads for TF, wrenches and RedLynx picks but at the end they were the only ones to decide. What's the point of making a nomination thread if it's to ignore it?
So now I hope there won't be these awards anymore to avoid the injustices in the Trials community. Actually I have no need to see two letters after a tag to know who is a true Trials fan and who is not. Same with top builders on the console games. The developers should save their time and not implement these awards in Frontier, I'd rather see them adding a replay system (it would be awesome). Or even better, fix the bugs.
What you're saying is pretty sad. I assume that all this bickering and controversy come from the completely abused prices (chips) of the tracks to unlock in the PvP mode. It's just a consequence of the free-to-play model.Originally Posted by xitooner Go to original post
