Upgrade to Patch 1.7, or not?

A general question related to whether updating from patch 1.5 to 1.7 can be considered "safe" given the following:

    have a:

    i7/3770 3.5GHz 16GB RAM w/ WIN7/64
    GPU EVGA GTX970 FTW
    KB/M configuration

Been on 1.5 patch in total Uplay off-line mode since patch release.

It appears most serious issues currently revolve around the use of game pad/controller and other misc features - dealing more with how the game was acquired, then in-game features themselves.

Feedback from those with a somewhat similar configuration would be most welcome. Thanks

I have an older GPU, but I have been experiencing crashes since the update. The longest I've played without the game crashing is around 20 mins, sometimes even earlier. I have done an integrity check, but haven't tested it yet.

However, I believe the 1.7.0 contains just the files for the Durgesh Prison DLC and does not contain any improvements or bug fixes. So, even if my issue is not related to the patch, it doesn't seem worthwhile to me for you to update now.

I also had a much older GPU (and have just replaced it), and yet the game never crashed on me. It wasn't of course all that suited for great game-play, but given the GPU, I understood that.

In checking other posts, you well may be right about 1.7 and since I can't just update to 1.6, and the game is running just fine now as far as I can tell ...

Thanks for taking the time to respond.
