Is this normal? Weird texture LOD fade. Video inside.

On some textures I get this weird square-y type fade on objects. Just wondering if this is normal. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Jf0h...ature=youtu.be

Not sure what I was supposed to be focusing on for the texture issue, but everything looked normal there to me.

What resolution are you playing the game at?

I think he's referring to the subtle pixelation of the white boxes on the pallet with view distance changes.

It's a common quirk of the Dunia engine, and/or their lack of expertise dialing in the LOD balancing.

It's been mentioned often as a distraction and inconsistency with the quality of graphics.

Some said the LOD got noticeably more aggressive with the streaming improvements of 1.5 to address the stutter, but mainly on distant objects.

Oh, I couldn't really tell from that YT video as it was so badly pixelated I could not tell what was that or what was part of the game.

Which is why I asked about game res, as that YT video seem to be only at 854x480.

Actually it's 1080p @ 60 FPS. In case you didn't know, you click the gear icon that looks like an asterisk on the lower right of the viewer to set the resolution.

I took some screens to show it.

    No Pixelation Up Close

    Pixealtion Starts When Moving Away

Easier to see of course in a video because the pixealtion spots appear to be moving. Didn't have time to highlight the spots in Paint. Just look at the bottom edge of some of the boxes.

Ah, I'm used to the old "click HD" if it was available. That helped.

And, yeah, I could see the texture issue at that res.

It´s normal , well , at least thats what ubisoft call normal . I bougth fc4 the day it was released and dident had those problems . At some patch , i think 1.4.0. they added this to improve performance . You know , the same thing like they always do , releasing games with graphics to hold their promisses from the preview trailers and then downgrading ..... like fc3 , watch dogs , acu ...... usual ubisoft buisness .

1.4 was a micro patch. It was 1.5 that had texture streaming "improvements" that nerfed the LOD, which in turn introduced a memory leak that 1.6 fixed, which in turn introduced the Karma 8 save glitch, then a hotfix followed.

Once again Ubisoft chasing their tails. LOL

Then it was 1.5.0. and yes , one thing is fixed , next thing is broken thats usual when it comes to ubisoft .
