    Well somehow a 2nd or 3rd reinstall of 1.04 farcry. A messy reinstall (didn't bother cleaning files or registry) allowed the game to work.

    Trying to run the game with the latest version of fraps...

    Did you run a comprehensive test across thousands, hundreds, or even just a few tens of different computers to test your assertions?

    Oblivion, Skyrim (i guess), Fallout 3 and Fallout new vegas, but I think they're the same engine. Egosofts x3 series presumably does the same sort of thing.

    I used an older one initially. Can't remember which version but that trashed the game. I tried to update to the current one to see if I could get it working with farcry3. :S

    The point being that other games certainly could "reach" memory errors just as easily as farcry3.

    So some people should be getting errors in more than farcry3 if it was memory problems.

    Thats weird... When I was able to play the game...

    Thats weird... When I was able to play the game running Fraps alongside it would most definately cause crashes and freezes. Only game for me where it did that in as far as I can remember.

    While that is correct I've never had my farcry3 use more than 6-900 mb of memory. X3:AP on the other hand I've seen use 2.8 gb If ... my memory serves me correct.

    I don't know what to say. My own problem and attempts at fixing it went from lags/freezes ingame to now being unable to start the game (still lags freezes and now to crash).
