new FC4 Outpost map published . . looking for feedback (x1)
I just published my first map for Far Cry 4 on the x1. I am looking for some feedback and am willing to answer any questions if anyone is interested. This was is my first map and I learned alot. It took me a week to make it, but don't spare my feelings if it's crap. I do recommend playing it a couple of times, as I tried to put several ways to go.
Map Style:
Non-linear
start off with 4 empty slots
high replay value
good for coop (when it gets here!!!)
not too difficult
....
I dunno. I can't think of anything else.
1st map?
Bee Hive!!!!
The map is called Mountain Camper 1.4. My gamer tag is BRASCH.
Some of the lessons that I learned:
1. My Outpost layout is actually too big for the limited AI options that we have.
2. I'm pretty sure that I put too many AI animation points on the map.
3. It's hard to objectively beta test your map.
4. It's hard to watch others beta test your map.
5. Learning the controller interface is arduous but essential (the undo function is awesome)
6. Group object selection is easier than it seems at first.
7. Turn on the option to show nav mesh for characters (if their is not blue path to get somewhere the NPCs will not be able to get there [unless you are using ladders]).
8. I kept having NPC's walk into and catch on fire. I used the step ladder object (under military/industry objects) upside down under the fire (under the map) to create an area of 'don't walk here' on the fire (the area of 'don't walk here' can be seen, when the 'show nav mesh' option is set for charaters, in green on the ground)
9. I also found that when I place a health pack under the stove or under the legs of the bench (I'm assuming it's considered 'within' an asset), my heath pack falls through the floor.
10. Your published map can't receive updates, so once it's out there, it's out there. To update your map you have to re publish a second version.
Cheers,
BRASCH
