Ok, so this is the big fat elephant in the room.
Is there anyone actually running this game with a dual core processor?
Has the recent 1.4.0 patch allowed the game to run with anyone with a dual core?
Please people with dual core processors, please post in this thread. We need to know if Far cry 4 is working for you or not.
I have a Dual Core E8400. I cannot play this game, black screen,
This processor has managed to run games like Wolfenstein (which had equal to greater reuirements) with no problem at all.
No one from Ubisoft is directly answering this question regarding dual core support.
A disgrace!
Please let the community know if you can run this game on your dual core processor, and please detail what processor you have.
***UPDATE***
So in the last few hours some reputable online PC sites have started reporting that Far cry 4 does not run on dual core processors.
The black screen issue seems to be caused by two separate issues 1) USB conflicts 2) Duo core processor non-compatibility

Well, it looks like it is finally the end of dual core gaming has arrived.
If you have a straight dual core processor then you will not be able to run Far Cry 4. End of story. This appears to be fact, and Ubisofts silence on the matter seems to further lend credence to this fact. A couple of other AAA games have recently been released without dual core support, so this looks like it might be a trend.
However, if you have a dual core processor with hyper-threading (it "fakes" 4 cores) then you will be able to run Far cry 4 but with some serious performance hits. I suspect that many people who are complaining about very poor performance have dual cores with hyper-threading.
Sorry to be the barer of bad news. If you have a straight-up duo core processor then don't waste your time waiting for a patch. It won't happen. You will need to buy a new CPU, and likely a new motherboard to run that CPU. I wish I was advised of this a week ago!!!
So, looks like I will have to buy a new CPU to play AAA games now
