Keenan has returned! (new track)
Due to an unfortunate event (my account being banned) I have had to start from scratch and restart everything on a new account (UnaskedEight8), so it's been fairly time consuming to build anything. However, i'm glad to announce my new skillgame "-Wind up warfare-" which is out now!
It's a basic tower defence game with 4 different towers to build and upgrade (at a high cost of course) to progress through waves of tinker toy-like machines being guided by a rail.
It is very challenging and it takes more than just a minute or two to complete with a good score, but it's very easy to opporate and learn. I recommend anyone who likes a challenge, to go play it now.
Re: Keenan has returned! (new track)
cool man i'll check it out, and your new GT rings a bell, you dont know EventfulEight do you? that little dweeb is everything that is wrong with trials but im sure http://forum.redlynx.com/forum/image.../icon/pray.gif he's not a friend of yours http://forum.redlynx.com/forum/image...con_e_wink.gif
Re: Keenan has returned! (new track)
i'm playing your td now and i guess i'm gonna compare it too mine
i can say yours is way better looking than mine
and also way more user friendly
this probably makes yours probably way better than mine unless people are willing to learn how my controls work
its nice too see the heathbars
i find much to do in it 95% of the time you are just waiting with nothing to do even when the wave is over you can't do alot because you don't have the money for it
i actually timed out after 30 min on round 44 so it didn't put my score on the lb
does the flamethrower do some damage over time?
i would have liked to see some different enemy's, somemore interesting economics or maybe enemies on a different path or so
anyway good to see some more tower defence love on the forum

Yea, I know it's really slow paced, but I the enemies were designed first, and the way that they're set up, I couldn't change the speed they move at. Even If I could, they would just fly past the towers without taking much damage.
As to your question involving the flamethrower yes, the flamer does do damage over time, and if you upgrade it then the time that the enemies are set on fire from that tower increases. That's what sets it apart from the turret, because I realize that they both seem to do pretty much the same thing on their first level.
I may or may not make another tower defence from scratch that's faster paces, and has more enemies and towers - depending on how popular this one is.

Just because your account is blocked from XBL shouldn't mean that you no longer have access to your files, can't you still play in offline mode? How about license transfer or I dunno, hack the saves http://forum.redlynx.com/forum/image...s/icon_lol.gif. I think the favorites are saved as tracks themselves, aren't they?
As for the TD I really loved it! Except it'd be nice to get more than $1 as the levels get higher, everything is so expensive! Even something small like money = (level / 10), round up.

Firsty, just want to say the tower defence skill game was superb. http://forum.redlynx.com/forum/image.../icon/clap.gif
Some suggestions that (you are likely already aware of) that would have made it better:
- make upgrades a tad cheaper. Money is so hard to come by that you barely get the chance to upgrade let alone max out any weapons.
- visual indicators for turrets that have been upgraded.
- not even sure it's possible in a skill game, but disable the b button - for obvious reasons.
- include an end event button so i can end the game before it times out. Due to the nature of the game, it's really hard time the finish so you can save your score.

disableing the b button is posible (but hard because it requires alot of testing because alot can not work like you think it would)
you can even let games have some minimal b button functionality by only disableing it on only specific places
would like to see keenan's coding though so i can compare it to my td game
Re: Keenan has returned! (new track)
In wave 20 I finished my defenses. Nothing made it past. I am now at wave 43 and just keep pressing "Y". I would suggest a faster paced game, and also have the 30 minute mark end the game.

You're a legend sparkler. Definitely deserve that TF. Just realised I haven't played anything made by you. I'll change that soon http://forum.redlynx.com/forum/image...icon/smile.gif
Re: Keenan has returned! (new track)
Excellent game, sir... Finding the perfect balance of gameplay sounds like a nightmare. I haven't played many tower defense games so I'm not sure how to improve on that.
Splitting the path, and adding more enemies sound like a good ideas.
Maybe have light, medium, and heavy units?
If you build another from the ground up, I would suggest using a variable for game speed somehow. Then you could have the player slow down or speed up the game with the bumpers. ( Like how the replays work )
Oh! What if you have a sniper tower off in the distance that you control during the waves? That could make things more interesting.
