Question about Next-Gen, Xbox 360 and PC cross-platforming
Trials Fusion is probably going to be cross platformed, right? So, wouldn't be a CPU power problem with custom tracks about different platforms, because some platforms are powerful, some not so much, that means on several PCs & Next Gen consoles would run custom tracks fine, but on Xbox 360 could some custom tracks lag a lot?
Re: Question about Next-Gen, Xbox 360 and PC cross-platformi
Well, essentially, if all platforms contain the same track editor, track objects and track central then how high the performance or resolution of each platform is wont really matter much so long as when the tracks are transferred over to another platform that the objects remain in the same place. The game will take care of the processing for each individual platform.
That's my theory anyway http://forum.redlynx.com/forum/image.../icon/wink.gif
Re: Question about Next-Gen, Xbox 360 and PC cross-platformi
Well I'm assuming there will be no leaderboard/track central crossover between different platforms. I'd love to be wrong and it would be amazing if there was a unified global leaderboard and one track central for everyone, but even if thats not impossible, it seems like a lot to ask.
So with one track central for each platform it won't be a problem. The nextgen's editor may allow more complexity ( Ive no idea how any of this actually works) but it wouldn't matter because you wouldn't be able to play those custom tracks on the 360 anyway. Every system would run its own customs just fine regardless of the limitations of the other systems.

Re: Question about Next-Gen, Xbox 360 and PC cross-platformi
Wait, why are we thinking it's going to be cross platform? The developers of the game Defiance, had a working cross platform PS3/360/PC system, but Microsoft and Sony shot them down and wouldn't allow their servers to connect to servers outside their own ecosystem.
What makes you think Xbone and PS4 will be any different? They like to have control over their own servers and what is available to their players, allowing the playing and sharing of tracks cross-platforms could mean that Sony's filters don't comply with Microsofts filters and so they can't police it they way they want. and also server downtime by one company, say if the PC servers being hosted by Ubisoft were to go down while playing with people on Xbox Live, that could impact the Xbox players experience and reflect badly on Microsoft.
I can't see it happening.
Re: Question about Next-Gen, Xbox 360 and PC cross-platformi
Honestly I wouldn't want cross platforming in trials at all, it's a different experience on each different controller, and the possibility of mods for one console but not the other could ruin it for the leader boards.

the downside of not-cross platforming is that the community will be splitted, while some can't enjoy other tracks made on a different platform, competitions etc. and YOU would probably not like that while you can't play some awesome user created tracks by other platforms you don't own, or can't win some super prizes on other platforms you don't own even your track could top everybody else's. Same with Trials Evolution XBLA & PC, but that wasn't critical since there are most casuals and it's different and later released on PC.

Agreed. How terrible would it be to break up the community and have quality builders only building for a specific platform? I'm not sure how Ubisoft/ RedLynx could make it work but I pray they do.
