I didn't know Rook was a vet, what branch? Thank you for your service.
Thanks guys, and thank you to all the other military service members past and present.
I was a paratrooper in the U.S. Army for 8 years and my skill was a Heavy Wheel Vehicle Mechanic. I worked on all the biggest equipment including huge forklifts and such. A HMMWV (Hummer) is considered the small stuff.
I was in AFTER Desert Storm, and BEFORE 9/11, so I hit time where I never served overseas like so many of our brave men and women are now. I got hurt about 2 years into my service, and that injury is ultimately what end my service time. Otherwise I'd no doubt still be serving my country. Telling my story sucks a bit, b/c I'm a soldier to the core and wish I could still be in the Army to this day.
On a side note:
While people are spending Veterans Day thanking the veterans and service members for their service. I'm taking the time to of course thank them as well....but I'd like to take the time to thank all of those that lend their support to our veterans and me personally. Friends, family...and perfect strangers. That support is much needed and I'm eternally grateful for the support that I've received through the years and I hope that every veteran gets that same support.
In my view....if you're supporting your military service members and the veterans whenever you can....you too are serving your country. So thank you for that.
Thanks guys. Rook, Shifty, Rob and all the rest.
