Ridge Tracer-Help? (not the final shortcut)
Been playing ridge tracer a fair bit lately and the highest I can get in the world is 170th with a time of 24.401. I know exactly what I need to do to improve, however despite watching a lot of replays I can't get the big hill you climb near the start right (between checkpoints 3 and 4). As far as I can tell you need to lose no speed when you jump onto it and clear the dent just on top of the hill. But is there any sure-fire way to do this? My current method of slowing down at the very bottom of the hill to drive up it to ensure I clear the dent is just too slow. Any tips?

Bunny hop while going up?

You mean bunny hop at the top over the dent or bunny hop half way up before the dent?

Wat
Can you show a video of what you're talking about.

Unfortunately I can't as the forums won't allow me, but if you go to the leaderboards for Ridge Tracer and watch Chicago AJ's replay, it's 0:06-0:09 I'm talking about

Alright I had a look at what you were talking about and I looked at your replay. What you want to do for that hill bit is to land on your back wheel and keep your weight back until your ready to bunny hop over the gap. To do this, just just lean forward and then back quickly and you should clear it. It's very difficult to explain something like this so your best bet is to watch replays honestly. Watch a few different ones and keep trying to figure it out and you will get it eventually http://forum.redlynx.com/forum/image...icon/smile.gif
I played against your ghost and even on an average run I was .800 up after that hill so if you can get the start of the track down you can easily get a top 50 place.

Thanks a lot http://forum.redlynx.com/forum/image...icon/smile.gif Guess i'll just keep trying, the leaning forward then back to clear the gap is very helpful, I assumed like most bunny hops it would be back then forward but I did notice on the replay that people weren't doing that and were doing a lot of minor stick movements on the hill. Thanks for the clarification.
EDIT:
So I tried it for a while and the problem is keeping the speed up the hill to actually clear the gap, the top replays don't seem to lose any speed when they land but it seems like my whole bike is bouncing around when I land meaning I then don't have the speed to properly clear the gap. I clear it, just, but I land too short and bounce when I land meaning I then don't have the speed for the little wooden ramp to land going down hill. The only thing I can think of to fix this is the right-left-right-left motion on the stick whilst climbing the hill that the top replays seem to do. However, whenever I try this my bike hops and I lose traction completely. Do you know what the stick movements whilst climbing the hill are for and if they're essential?

Yes, they are essential. You want your back tire to land first while having your rider in the standing position (lean forward), as your back tire comes in contact with the surface, lean backwards so you can absorb the impact, grip the hill, and maintain speed.
After you've successfully done the maneuver, lean back until you think it's appropriate to lean forward and bunnyhop the gap.
