Just my respect where it is due.
I just want to pay my respects to the makers of this incredible game, to those who 'build' it before release and to those still 'building'. Having fun with this Editor has shown me what it takes, I hope one day I'll join the ranks of top designer/developer. Thanks for giving us the Editor and thanks to those that use it!
Re: Just my respect where it is due.
We like making tracks, you like playing tracks, everyone's a winner! http://forum.redlynx.com/forum/image...on/biggrin.gif
Re: Just my respect where it is due.
I definitely like making tracks more than playing them though...
Re: Just my respect where it is due.
I was told to join this forum because I had a few questions, dissapointed and without answers I will leave this forum to try and just get some direct help with specific problems and ideas. The strange tone used by the people 'giving the tips' is not only annoying but often innacurate. I am a complete and uther noob at this editor and I really hoped this forum would help, I had the impression that this was a giant Trials think tank with a link to the actual developers... too bad it is only partially the case. Are there any other forums that are editor specific?
Re: Just my respect where it is due.
Ok, I have now officially seen too much bad advice and random shizzle. I am one illusion lighter... if there is another forum that is a little more serious please let me know.
P.S. I came here to find out how to trigger invisibility on your bike or rider during a 'race' as I was told it would be on here becuase people were already stuntin' around like that... first I thought this dude might be pulling my leg but I think he might have actually seen it on here as well. I've seen some weird 'solutions' to peoples problems on here, almost half of these things could be made work a lot eassier. And this is a noob with 80 hours of experience talking... I absolutely love this game and am going to fall even deeper in love with it the next months but all these people that told me to join this forum are getting a message on xbox live and there could be opening some spots on my friendlist as well. Everybody have fun (sorry about the complaining but I haven't been this dissapointed in a while.) riding and building! I'm sorry for joining the forum but will forever be Trials fan!
Just my respect where it is due.
Well, it sucks that you want to leave, but can't you trigger the bike and rider by selecting them and switching visibility off?
Most of the guys here are still figuring things out. It really IS a giant think tank. (Please see the Google Docs thread). The devs come around, but they spend most of their time working, and recently released Trials Evolution. They're taking a bit of a break from the forums and probably prepping for summer holiday.
Hang out with us for a bit, we aren't perfect by any means, but there's a lot of great people on the board.
Re: Just my respect where it is due.
Thank you for your response, much appreciated, i am actually a bit surprised by it. I know i can't expect perfection from a forum, the whole idea behind being the openness and all, but I have been just browsing a bit and I found it all a bit strange. As far as I know (and this is just based on what I tried in the editor) it is impossible to have visibility effects (or events) linked to your bike or rider unless it's right from the beginning. I have not been able to have my bike and rider say; ride through into a house only to have the bike come out without the rider or the other way around. When I ask someone on xbox live they give me ridiculous tips or they refer me to this forum where 'they' said: All the answers were. I stayed away from here to try and keep myself free from any outside influence but have pretty much reached my limits on what i can find out on my own. I expected this 'think tank' to work together and have good tight threads on all sorts of subjects. Not remarks about home life tied to huge banner telling me to eat something. Not smiley faces and people chatting about what to call the dog the neighbors bought. But like I said, that is forums for ya. If you know of a good thread, with serious people that have no banners attached to their name, than I'd really like to know because there must be other builders like me. Just creative hobby dudes that love building stuff. Thanks again for your response and for showing me that this forum isn't filled with socially disturbed folks only http://forum.redlynx.com/forum/image.../icon/wink.gif Keep on ridin"!
Re: Just my respect where it is due.
Just a thought but if your wanting info on the editor...probably would get a better response posting in the level editor section of the forum

Try those links and see if they provide you with what you're looking for. They link to the editor section, the google docs thread and the Redlynx editor guide thread.
If you post a thread in the editor section, then most likely someone will post help if they have an answer for you. It may take a while as people are all in various timezones, some work, etc, but there are plenty of people who are willing to try and help.
Re: Just my respect where it is due.
By the way, before everybody starts telling me that my tracks are terrible and unfinished... most of them are but this is because as a noob I did't know that you CAN play your own tracks with friends without sharing them (definitely a thing that I feel should have been made more clear from the beginning) and that I figured there would be a way to remove junk. My apoligies for this (would never have happened if it was a lil' more clear to me) and if you do want to try something you're best off sticking to -Un-Initial Industry- (Trials) and -Outland Evolved- (Skill game) to see what level I am at now. I would love to be able to give my own track some more tags or texts to go along with them as explanation. So you could actually put out some demo's or other short example tracks. But I already promised that I'm not putting out anymore rubbish, so no worries, the rubbish that has my name now is the only rubbish to carry my name.
