What is the best time to share a track?
hi all, what do you think the the best time in the day/evening is the best time to share, i uploaded a new track i made and within 5 minutes it was gone from the new trials section... to be replaced by "when i got bored 4", and a track simply called "track" with a screenshot of the sky.. lol, infact nearly all of the trials tracks that was on there was spammed 3 or 4 times. there has to be a better way to seperate the good tracks from the 12 year old made ****e that dominates the new track lists. So what do you do to try to get the most people to play your new track?
My new track is called "TF3 Industrial .1" and my GT is the same as my screen name on here, if anyone wants to give it a runthrough!! http://forum.redlynx.com/forum/image...icon/smile.gif there are some pretty tough sections and it has a custom song i made which can be toggled on/off.. please let me know what you think and also if theres any changes i should make.. thankyou!
Re: What is the best time to share a track?
The weekends I would assume, because that's when the majority of players are online. But I'm curious to see what others say about this too. Maybe Monday because of the new week, but then again not as many people are on.
Re: What is the best time to share a track?
I reckon late Sunday arvo here in aus.
It seems most people think the weekend so friday night till late lunch sunday seems to just be getting smashed with everyone trying to get the tracks out. Late Sunday u seem to get a good 3-4 hours in the new tracks opposed to 30 min on a sat.
That's just what I noticed but it may change now http://forum.redlynx.com/forum/image...on/biggrin.gif
Maby a dev could tell us what time frame during the week most tracks get uploaded then we can work around that.

Re: What is the best time to share a track?
Not the weekend. My latest track didnt fair well and yet I was told it should by all the testers I roped into trying it. Fairly certain one rider in particular one starred it just because he got stuck on an obstacle for a while (judging from my rating and his replay!). So I'm going to assume that was a kid based on most of the tracks I saw uploaded over the weekend. I reckon late on a Wednesday is good, that catches some of Friday evening and gives you the chance of 48hr showcase before the kids hit TC on a weekend!
Of course, this is complete guess work and could be a mile off target! But the tracks uploaded and on 48hr trials over the weekend certainly seemed to be liked/made by a less mature section. A long downhill staircase with 5* rating for example.
Re: What is the best time to share a track?
I don't think it really matters tbh. If you upload in the week, there will be less downloads, but also less uploads of other tracks, so your track will be up longer. For the weekend it would be vice versa I'd imagine.
Re: What is the best time to share a track?
its that so many silly tracks are being shared that is the problem... i put a new track up and checked it 5 mins later to see how many dl's i was having and it was gone from the new trials list.. managed 12 dl's in a 5 minute period, then it was gone..

I would not be opposed to a limit on how often you can release tracks. It would really make people think twice about releasing betas and first efforts.

That would be the single best improvement to Track Central that I can think of.
Re: What is the best time to share a track?
Well I uploaded my latest week of work Saturday night at bout midnight. 8 mins later it was out of the list with a few downloads. It does make my heart sink...
Anyway its "Extreme Industries" if you want to give it a look.

I am completely baffled as to why this track was downloaded as many times as it was and given as high of a rating as it did. Anyone could have made that track in 3 minutes and it wasn't even fun.
Meanwhile, actual good tracks that have effort put into them are completely ignored and forgotten. It's sad.
