Trials Evolution: Feedback and Suggestion Thread
After spending the last couple of days hammering Evo I thought I would make this thread to throw some suggestions into the mix.
Some of this stuff was asked for halfway through HD's lifespan and didn't get into Evo so I'm not holding my breath but it's worth a shot.
Menus and HUD
1) Still can't jump up and down the track lists with the triggers. More tracks = more scrolling. Either that or let us press up on the pad to jump straight to the bottom.
2) Option to completely disable HUD (including the 3,2,1 go writing)
3) Leaderboards. I thought we were getting more seperated leaderboards but I can't see much difference from HD's other than the multiplayer ones. Are skill games still counted towards global ranking?
4) Option to disable tutorial messages in the easy tracks.
Gameplay
1) Fix the front wheel digging in. I can deal with other stuff, but this is my main gripe.
2) Allow a little more time to hit the riders head. Even if you can touch your head for no more than 2 seconds and a little bit of damage increase. I'm not one for "worming" my way to checkpoints, but all the lucky little flips where you just clip your head and roll over are impossible now and it's kinda frustrating.
3) Braking is too strong and reverse is insane. Really difficult to land and stop dead on stuff as he will just gun it into reverse almost instantly.
4) Rider lean is very aggressive. Lean forward and the back wheel pops nearly every time.
Track Central
1) We need an option to tag tracks as BETA with the ability to disable leaderboards for it and the option to delete it.
2) Find friends tracks should have it's own option that pulls all your friends tracks into a list before downloading (not keen on having to search for people on my list).
That's all I can think of right now. I'm sure I'll find more but feel free to add your own comments and let's see if we can get Evo to absolute perfection!

Track Central
3) Select multiple tracks at a time, then download the lot all at once.

Re: * Trials Evolution - Feedback and Suggestions *
Nice addition.
Hey mods. Any chance this thread could get stickied?

Re: * Trials Evolution - Feedback and Suggestions *
I'd like to be able to play my own work in progress/yet to be uploaded tracks from the normal custom track screen - as it is currently the only way to test drive is in editor and in multiplayer - both of which don't show exactly how it will play normally...
-
Re: * Trials Evolution - Feedback and Suggestions *
Not really a suggestion but more of an observation. Why suck all the contrast out of the graphics?
Sometimes it just looks washed out, almost like the black levels are wrong (eg console set to RGB standard instead of expanded).
If I go into my TV settings and adjust the black level the picture has so much more definition, but obviously I can't leave it like that as when I create tracks, what I see on screen is not what other people will see.
-
Re: * Trials Evolution - Feedback and Suggestions *
Add aonther one to the list.
Back button during tournaments. I preferred it when it did nothing, now it resets you to the start of the CURRENT track which seems really strange.
Either disable it completely again or do what someone else suggested (can't remember who) and have the back button bring up a warning saying you will go back to the start of the tournament and then press it again to confirm.
ie. 2 taps of the back button will send you back to the first track in the tournament.
-
Re: * Trials Evolution - Feedback and Suggestions *
Greetings,
Change the pause menu option for "Exit Game" to "Exit Track", "Exit Tournament" or even "Return to Menu". As it does not actually exit the game.
-
Re: * Trials Evolution - Feedback and Suggestions *
-Game start-up music is (imo) AWFUL. I'd like to be able to turn it off or choose which song plays.
-There are 4 identical arrow signs in the editor for some odd reason. Only need one. And maybe bring back some HD signs.
-Bike selection in editor doesn't save like in HD. I want it to stay on the Pheonix, but every time I start the game it switches back to the Scorpion.
-Gluing a physics object to a static object activates the static object's physics.
-There's no way to toggle a glued object's physics even while holding LB..
-Switch jumping sucks with the fast position movement + soft suspension.
-I like the idea of a slightly more forgiving skull. "Worming" IS cheap and should remain impossible.
All fairly minor things considering it only cost $15 http://forum.redlynx.com/forum/image...icon/smile.gif

I was in stitches when I saw this happen, I just dont understand the reason behind it.

Re: * Trials Evolution - Feedback and Suggestions *
I'm liking the tournaments this time. I like the fact that it is basing your times of your track PB, but instead your actual tournament time.
Also back button is useful on the first track of any tournament, as the faults don't go up when you hit back, just resets. Saves exiting out and re-entering.
It's not useful on the other tracks, though.

That is the only time it should just restart you.
After you finish the first track the back button should be used like I said; back to bring up a warning message, back again to restart to first track.

Re: Trials Evolution: Feedback and Suggestion Thread
I am really missing an option to sort the Lb's by country. Surely it should be possible seeing as we all have shirts with national colours on..
Also, the riders head is a bit too over sensetive for my taste.
Ohh, and a "random track" button would be nice, and the option to see all tracks on a long list, so that a playlist could be compiled, like in Guitar hero or whatever..
-
Re: Trials Evolution: Feedback and Suggestion Thread
I don't see any way after downloading a custom track of being able to send it as a recommendation to download to someone on your friends list. So if they want the track as well they have to go searching for it and you can't search by track name (that I could see).
Would be nice to have a section in track central titled 'Friends Recommendations'.

that's great. only played each tourney once so far so didn't know about that.
agree the back button is useless past the first track though...

Re: Trials Evolution: Feedback and Suggestion Thread
TRACK CENTRAL
I think there needs to be better management of the ratings people are giving their own tracks relative to difficulty. At the very least, RedLynx could create a video tutorial stating how to rate your tracks appropriately. Soooo many of these tracks are erroneously labeled.
I point to 'star trek 1' as a perfect example. In what world is that an "Easy" track??
Other ways to moderate this issue would be to give users the ability to report inaproriately labeled tracks (like reporting offensive content) or allow us to actually post short comments with our star ratings so we could then communicate mislabling.
Comments would actually really be a welcome addition, since you can only rate tracks if you finish them. This means that, for tracks like star trek 1, so few people are even able to finish it that the then can't give any feedback. (no hate for this track, just a good example. It is actually a cool track, just crazy hard).
LEVEL EDITOR
Option to 'invert Y-axis' on the camera/cursor in the level editor. This is how I game, so not being able to do this when using the controller as my cursor/camera in the editor is very confusing to me.
Thanks.

Re: Trials Evolution: Feedback and Suggestion Thread
I definitely think there should be a quick unlock DLC. The game is supposed to be "balanced" for single player, but it is anything but that. I find it tedious with a really steep learning curve. I don't think people should have to enjoy the game less because they can't get enough gold medals to unlock the next series of tracks.

Re: Trials Evolution: Feedback and Suggestion Thread
Sort the leaderboards out.. I have plats and extreme bronze and silver.. and I'm getting ****** over by people with golds http://forum.redlynx.com/forum/image...on_twisted.gif
That's my suggestion http://forum.redlynx.com/forum/image...s/icon/eek.gif

i totally agree.
i built this weekend's seattle supercross yesterday in the trials section and after the quick surge of downloads from being in the "new tracks" section it was just lost in the giant abyss of tracks filling up track central. downloads have really tapered off. it would be great if people looking for supercross replica tracks etc were able to search keywords in the title or description. or search by gamer tag
i.e "seattle" "supercross" "sx" etc
i would love to search for track attributes rather than have to browse through new, highest rated, and most downloaded tracks hoping to find one i like.
it seems like you still need people on your friendslist if they're going to see your new tracks or vice versa...
however, i have full confidence red lynx will absolutely improve upon this already incredibly amazing game.
-
Re: Trials Evolution: Feedback and Suggestion Thread
Had a few more thoughts:
1. search track by keyword
2. search track by type (supercross, trail, industrial, etc)
3. auto-surface-place for objects (when i place a tuff block on side of a jump, have option to auto-place it on surface of ground, rather than move axis' with trigger to place (very tedious for every tuff block)
4. created object sharing - like a track central for custom objects. say i build a stadium out of bleachers and walls and want other user to be able to get it.
5. burm creator - at this point im putting ramps together and angling them and it's working so-so but it would just be a huge timesaver to have a burm option like the ramp options
-
Re: Trials Evolution: Feedback and Suggestion Thread
Someone mentioned having a track list for single player.
It would he great if we could have the list just like the multiplayer selection one with our medal, faults and leaderboard position next to each track.

QFT! Def need this. Think its silly you can't play your own track locally. Def handles differently from editor and normal play, which really shouldn't...

Re: Trials Evolution: Feedback and Suggestion Thread
Hi, some suggestions for the track editor:
-Grid on every axis toggling with an axis locking option (grid on local X axis, you can only move the object on this axis
-Better feedback on the Light radius
-Light atenuation (better control on light intensity)
-Object scaling (will certainly erase a bit of repetition when copy pasting ^^)
-An easier way of selecting water (maybe, when you hit down on the DPad, it only select translucid objects?)
-It's really hard to edit a dark track, an option to toggle a general light would be cool (like when you're selecting an object from the library, it's toggling a front light)
-Basic locale for skill game instructions (you can set the instructions for different languages)
-An option to toggle terrain rendering, can be useful when doing a cavern or something, except if the engine does occlusion culling of course (current render distance thing leaves an annoying bright fog)
-An FPS like camera, like, when you hit a button, moving the right stick rotates the camera
-Easier way to do aerial tracks (maybe allowing to place objects before placing start point and end point?)
I'll try to add more as I think about them
Fix:
-French locale on almost every Events (talking about the ditor ^^) is false I guess. You have 3 options for Event type: Désactivé, Désactivé and Activer/désactiver (which means disable, disable and enable/disable) I think an enable is missing here.
Thank you for reading, have a good day!

Re: Trials Evolution: Feedback and Suggestion Thread
My biggest frustration is the multiplayer issue of track position. Surely the best thing to do is have the local player always in the foreground. I genuinely find it bizarre that it seems to put you in randomly. What was the sense in that? Why is seeing less of my rider beneficial? Real odd choice.
I realise that everyone suffers the same fate, so overall nobody has an unfair advantage when you play enough games. But when you consider each race you have to concede that 1 player has a significant advantage and this adds nothing to the game dynamic.

Re: Trials Evolution: Feedback and Suggestion Thread
More arcade, less simulation.
Flights and landings are more optimized, kinda "magnetic" and snappy. More arcade, less simulation than TrialsHD. Sometimes its too obvious. Maybe give more options or game modes for true simulation experience or continue the TrialsHD series for the hardcore gamers.

Re: Trials Evolution: Feedback and Suggestion Thread
I don't want crazy tricks I would just love to be able to do a good moto whip over jumps
Please!
-
Re: Trials Evolution: Feedback and Suggestion Thread
one glaring omission is that its impossible to do skill games in multiplayer in the same way that you do the single lane tracks. obviously this should be put in a separate category of lobbies
also, is there some way of making a public version of a private lobby? i wouldnt mind getting a few races in with the same people every now and then
-
Re: Trials Evolution: Feedback and Suggestion Thread
instead of Ninja being a TAG how about make it a DIFFICULTY
-
Re: Trials Evolution: Feedback and Suggestion Thread
The thing i would rearly like to see would be, private match trials with friends , times being logged on leader boards. i play lots of private matches with friends all day an have had some great times, but dont registar on track leader boards its very annoying an makes me not want to play with friends incase i get a fast time

+1 - Even if it is calibrated realistically, if you could give us a little bit of leeway that'd be great.
More Suggestions:
More skins for our bikes. More clothes. Maybe there could be a community contest to design skins or clothes.
Additional music on future dlc.
If you include skill games in future dlc can you please include old school games. Target Hunt, Flip Hunter, Loose Screw.
Make searching in TC NON-case sensitive. And in hindsight 1-10 might have been better to rank tracks.
Feedback:
I love that you can restart the first track in tournys. And the red and green times are for the entire tourny. and you still have to back out to start over. That's the way it should be.
I miss watching my track replays with the green and red times, so i can see where i gained and lost time.
Thank you for making the d-pad and analog equal.
SLOW MOTION is awesome.
That's all i have right now, if i think of anything i'll edit. Even though i found the skill games not that great everything else is so good it's not even that big a deal.
-
Re: Trials Evolution: Feedback and Suggestion Thread
I think it'd be great if you had to press brake + gas to reverse.
And press back button twice OR back button + B to restart tourneys

Re: Trials Evolution: Feedback and Suggestion Thread
The only real problem I have with the game is that every time I start the game up and go into multiplayer, I am back at level 1 again. Is this supposed to happen to see how high a rank you can get in one session or is it some kinda glitch? I played a couple of games the night it came out and got up to about level 5. The next day I tried again and was back at 1 again. Now after having another look today, I'm level 1 again. It's kiinda killing any incentive I have to keep playing multiplayer if I'm gonna get reset every time I stop playing.

If you mean uploading tracks, you can do that by going into manage tracks. Lets you upload just like in HD http://forum.redlynx.com/forum/image...icon/smile.gif

Re: Trials Evolution: Feedback and Suggestion Thread
Suggestion: Create a option to change the current language http://forum.redlynx.com/forum/image.../icon/wink.gif
Playing in the Netherlands, the language of the game is Dutch ( thats correct ) but i prefer English.
There is no option to switch to english ;(
The dutch translation, the "Gebeurtenis" "Dodelijke snelheid" the message of 'you need X medals' misses the m ( in dutch translation ) it states: "edailles" instead of "medailles"

Re: Trials Evolution: Feedback and Suggestion Thread
Posting Ninja as an actual difficulty would also mean that there would be tracks you need to complete in a game to acheive 100% or possibly gain enough medals to unlock certain things, and that just seems like too much of a obstacle for many people to acheive. In other words, it caters to a specific audience while frustrating everyone else.
-
Re: Trials Evolution: Feedback and Suggestion Thread
For track central, "Highest Rated" should sort by number of ratings rather than time posted. That would put all the "5 star" tracks with 1 rating in the back, and the quality up front. The new tracks would still be first in the "New" category, obviously.

i totaly agree with this post, other than that the multiplayer is so much fun!

Re: Trials Evolution: Feedback and Suggestion Thread
I agree too. As soon as I'm not on the nearest line I always tend to forget which lane I am in, especially on big jumps.
Always at the front would be the way to go.

Re: Trials Evolution: Feedback and Suggestion Thread
Great Game!
I just wish there were more tracks in the rotation for online Supercross.
Oh, and more, crazier, clothing items to buy.
Maybe even an option for a female rider.
And skin color options.
That is all for now. I gotta go finish making my first track.
